So on Saturday I had my very first fitting. I was a indecisive bee and had 2 of everything. From shoes, to jewelry sets, to hair accessory, and veils. My dress fit pretty darn well. The only alterations needed is to shorten the straps a bit and the bustle (8 point french bustle).
So with trying on my dress I tried on the differ sets of jewelry, shoes, veils and hair accessories to see which one goes better. Figure that all out! Time to come pay for my alterations and the bridal shop owner comes to your frist fitting laid my veils on the counter so I wouldn’t forget to take them home. I moved it a bit and saw a big hole in one! And the other was ribbon edged the ribbon was torn off in spots.
Figured out my cat got into both!. They both were hanging up in a closet with the door closed except for a few days last week when I took my Crinoline out of the bag to get some of the wrinkles out, with that hanging in the closet I couldn’t close the door all the way. I am thinking my cat got in there and decided to play with both veils.
I was very upset by the time I got home, although the bridal shop owner did call me and said she does have a veil at the bridal shop that is very similar to the one I had chosen to wear she would let me have. She just needs to bring it to the seamstress and it should be there for my next fitting. My problem is will the owner remeber to bring the veil and what happens if I don’t like the veil. I have to purchase another veil. And sadly I can’t repair the other two (had planned on selling the veil I wasn’t going to use) I can’t do that either.

Sounds like my cat… I’m glad she’s declawed. I’m sorry about your veils =(

@HappilyEverAfter54: She is declawed to! The one looks like she took a bite out of it and the other one the ribbon torn off and almost shreded. Sigh I love my cat but some days she makes me not a happy kitty momma

@Sassygrn: Yeah I know my cat ‘ate’ my petticoat and ribbon from a halloween dress last year… she also enjoys the taste of new lingerie D= my cat is sooo bad.

Awww… I am sorry!!! That’s awful… I would have been so disappointed too. 🙁 Fingers crossed that everything works out and the bridal shop owner remembers to bring it!
Is it in a spot where you could kinda cover it with a pretty flower or jewel or something?? Could you cut around it and make it shorter? It may not work for you, but if you rework it, you might be able to resell it… I don’t know…. just some ideas!!

@Sassygrn: So sorry to hear the news. The fortunate thing is that it happened in plenty of time prior to the wedding. Hopefully, the one the seamstress offered will work out so that you avoid an extra expense!

Cats can be such trouble makers! I feel your pain!

I’m sure your cats are awesome otherwise, but I just can’t trust a cat! Lol. I kid, I kid. Hopefully they will remember the veil. And if not, maybe you can find one preowned on Ebay?

@Sassygrn: That sucks! My old cat Smee used to LOVE chomping down on anything that was net-like in texture. Such a pain. Hopefully the other veil works for you! If not, have a look around at consignment or second hand shops. I got a gorgeous veil for my boudoir shoot for $20 from a local bridal consignment shop 🙂

Oh that sucks! I just posted about my petticoat-eating dog, but this thread reminded me, my boy cat Spike was always trying to chew on anything net-like and I would hear the awful crunch sound and catch him in the act! Thankfully it wasn’t anything important, just leftover netting from my projects. What is with these animals?
