I wrote my vows tonight, please let me know what you think. =D
Antonio, I didn’t know when I met you how lucky I was to have found you. It didn’t take me long to realize how special you are, and to understand that what we’ve shared all these years is truly worth fighting for. Through the ups and downs, the great times and the tears, my love for you has never wavered. I have always, and will always be yours.
Now, as I stand before you, ready to become your wife, I know that you are my past, my present, and my future. I love your strength and your tenderness, your ability to sincerely listen to me, and your ability to make me laugh. I love that you’re the last person I see at night and the person I wake up to every morning. You are my best friend, my comfort and support, my confidant, my shoulder to cry on, and my comic relief. I can’t imagine a better life than one spent by your side.
Today, I promise to always hold on to the love that we share, to take time for us and appreciate us. I promise to be honest with you and forever faithful to you. I will strive at every moment to create a place for open communication so that you will always know that we can talk about anything and that we can get through anything. I promise to support you and encourage you, and to strive for compromise whenever we disagree. I promise to never judge you and to always want what’s best for you. I promise to encourage you and to help you achieve what you want from life. I will try to be strong when you are feeling weak. I will try to look past the petty things that should ever stand between us. I will try to forgive when forgiveness is in order. I will try to stay humble and admit my mistakes. I will try my best to always make you happy and to always strive to be everything that you deserve in a partner. Above all else, I promise to be there for you, always, no matter what life throws our way, and to love you, sincerely and passionately, for as long as I live.

I think it sounds really nice, maybe a little long though.

I agree – it sounds great, but it seems a little long.

I agree maybe a TAD long (only because I’ve always heard the traditional sort of quick vows) but the words are really beautiful. As long as you dont mind the length, I thinik it’s awesome! <3

I think it’s soooo sweet. It doesn’t seem that long. I’m writing my own vows too and dreading it

These are very nice. however, pretty long. You need to cut it down. Good luck!

Thanks for your input. I don’t mind the length and when read out-loud I don’t think it’s too long. I actually timed myself, and it comes to about 1.5 min (taking a couple of pauses in case I start to choke up). Seeing as how this is the most meaningful part of the ceremony to us, I think that’s ok…

@quishi: I like them. I think it looks long but it doesn’t take long to read it so I think it’s fine. Good job!

Very emotional! Just make sure that he takes care to write similar vows so he’s not left standing up there stuttering with 3 lines written down on a napkin, you know? Hehe. 🙂

They sound wonderful! We couldn’t decide if we wanted to write our own vows…but reading these is really making me want to!

Very sweet! This is probably me being lucky but there seems to be “strive for” repeated a lot in the last paragraph though.
