Hello all bees!
I am just over the moon that I ACTUALLY FOUND MY DREAM DRESS that I just had to write a post.
The wedding dress was the part of my wedding that made me the most anxious because there are so many beautiful dresses and I pretty much love ALL of them… How could I ever make a decision???… I will always find something about a dress that I like. I had to keep in mind though that I am getting married in the caribbean and wanted something more fitted and not poofy – for heat reasons (if I was getting married in Europe I would SO be that girl in the enormous poofy princess dress!!!).
I had looked at an enourmous amount of dresses online…and then I found the Lillian West. It was exactly what I had envisioned: the material, the straps, the not-too-poofy-ness… The only problem was…it was impossible to try on in France – where I live. There were two dress shops that had were marked as sellers of the dress, but none of them made any mention of Lillian West on their website (and I’m a little scared to call in french…my french isn’t amazing…) I even considered sending a quote to Jasmines to have an inspiration dress made, but I was afraid that it might not look as good on as the model… (I think I even posted about that issue)…
Yesterday I got up the courage to call the closest could-be-carrier of my dream dress. THEY HAD IT! But they had borrowed it from Denmark for another bride and were sending it back the next day! They wouldn’t be able to get it back because apparently it was REALLY difficult to get the other shop to lend it to them. So today I took a two hour train to Grenoble to try on this dress (knowing that it was the runway size and I am SO not runway size…try size 14UK).. I tried it on and it didnt fit AT all, but that’s all I needed to fall even more inlove with the dress. I suddenly became superwoman, with powers to visualize this dress exactly as it would be at my wedding…even with the sweetheart neckline around my neck, a bulge in the tummy and the back zipper that didnt do up (I know sounds comic right haha). I paid the downpayment straight away!
Anyway that’s my dress destiny…if I had waited a day more, my dress would be in Denmark and I would never be able to try it on (without going to another country, knowing me I would have settled).
Any other Lillian West brides? Show me your dresses!
