I just put a deposit down on my wedding dress which I LOVED at the store.
But having come home and looked at the pictures I took ...I'm not loving it so much. I think it has more to do with me in it and my weight issues, not the dress itself. Although I still have time to lose some weight and tone up.
It's a Mori Lee dress. I think the dress is beautiful, although I'm not loving the top...What do you bees think?
The 1st pic is the dress on model, the 2nd is on me, and yes, I'm plus-sized. The 3rd dress was the runner-up dress I've been thinking about.
Thanks!

I love it it shows off your curves beautifully!
But I also like your runner-up - I don't think you can go wrong either way... but you have to LOVE your dress!
Personally, I love the dress. You look great in it and I think that everyone might have a few shimmers of doubt when they spend that much money and it is supposed to be the most important dress you ever wear. You picked it for a reason though!
The lacey pattern is gorgeous and it looks a lot more unique than the second dress you posted. I say stick with the dress you already have !
I think the one you ordered is beautiful! The vertical pattern is great for streamlining and accentuating your curves. And if it comes with a bolero/jacket -- those can be so expensive to purchase seperately and to have one match perfectly is a big plus! Personally, I prefer the style of yours to the runner up dress, but it's definitely up to your tastes and preferences.
absolutely love the dress u picked!!! the other one is nice, but i dont like it nearly as much as the dress you picked
I think you picked the right dress! The runner-up dress is beautiful as well, but I think you should stick with the first one. Looks great on you! :)
I think you look beautiful in it. It fits your curves nicely and gives you an hourglass shape. I love the little jacket too. I think everyone has a little bit of doubt when buying their wedding dress. I mean there are so many options out there, how are you supposed to know that there isnt on out there that you'd like better. I'm going to try on my dress in a few weeks and I'm very excited! I wouldn't worry though. You look amazing!
Um I love your dress choice the curves are outta this world it looks sooo much better on you than the model!
the dress you put a deposit on looks AMAZING on you - honestly, its gorgeous. the other one is beautiful too, but i would definitely suggest sticking with the first one - you look fabulous :)
I tried on a dress almost exactly like #2. It looked awesome but sitting in it was impossible. Something to keep in mind.
Haev you tried on Dress #2? I am not sure it would be as flattering as #1 is on you
Oh wow, I LOVE the dress you picked! Your curves actually make the dress look AMAZING! Seriously... great choice.
I like the first dress. The model doesn't do this dress justice and you wear it so much better! You look beautiful!
Ok I'm not gonna lie. Usually when people post pictures of them vs. the model I think the model wears the dress better.
But in your case, you ROCK that first dress way better than any model ever could!. It looks like it was MADE for your curves :)
The first dress is beautiful and so unique, I love it. And you fill it out much nicer than the model, btw.
I love your dress! It looks beautiful on you. I also think it looks much more special than the second one. Maybe you could wear it without the jacket if you are not liking it?
stay with the dress you brought that looks fantastic on you better than the twiggy model. I'm jealous. Don't second guess yourself it's fantastic.
I think that you look BEAUTIFUL in the dress.
A girlfriend of mine who is about your size tried on the same dress and was questioning how it looked on her. One thing I suggested to her is for her to do a small/modified sweetheart neckline so it would help minimize the broadness of her shoulders.
HTH!!!
Dress #1 looks great on you! And the details on it is so pretty and different. But you should try on the 2nd to see how much you like it.
I like your dress. I think once it's altered for you it will look great. The sample is to long, so your not getting the full effect. I like whoever posted the suggestion of slight sweetheart to to the bodice that could be quite pretty, you might even be able to pin the dress to get an idea of what a sweetheart neckline would look like.
Both are gorgeous dresses, but I love the first dress on you. I think it accentuates your curves wonderfully and I really like the jacket. Beautiful dress!
WHO CARES if your plus size.. Girl you look amazing in that dress! I am plus size too and I cant wait to show off my curves.
wow! i love your first choice...wish i got it for myself..lol
u look really good in that dress!! i love the detail on it and then i love boleros!!!!
it looks like both dresses are mermaids, but damn the first one has awesome details..the second one just a little to plain for my taste..
dont worry about it, you look great...
You would need to take a pic in the 2nd dress but I really like the first dress with the bolero.
Also remember your jewrely, hair, and makeup will just add to the overall look...beautiful!!
Hi Ladies! Thank you SO much for all your inputs & compliments! I love the hive!!!
I already feel better about the dress. Like I said in my post, I do love how it looks or I would never had put a deposit, but I was second-guessing myself when I got home. I thought, what if there was something better? I have to be honest, I was hoping I'd look 20lbs thinner in that dress! But that's just me being crazy! lol.
Crebre--I always enjoy your posts, thanks!
Thanks to all the ladies for complimenting the curves! :) The bolero jacket came with it, which is awesome since I was going to get one anyway. I dislike my arms, and was looking for something to cover them up.
I did try on dress #2 and loved it because it really sucked me in and gave me more of an hourglass shape, but like Caszos said...1) its not that comfortable and 2) I didn't love the bottom.
YSQUEEN--I had the same idea and issue! I feel like the straight line across the bust calls attention to my wideshoulders and arms, so I was thinking about having it modified to a sweetheart neckline, so you read my mind! What do you ladies think of that idea?
I think that will downplay my wideness at least a little. I also have a wide ribcage (medically confirmed!) darn it!! I found a pic of another bride with the dress and modified neckline (below).
xoxoxooxoxo Thanks SO much ladies!!!!!
gigiram77, I think you look GREAT in your first dress. Be confident... you're beautiful!
I think #1 is a prettier and softer dress and looks great on you.
The sweetheart neckline is really pretty, I like the modification and it will make your dress that much more unique to you. I also have a sweetheart neckline and I think it draws the eye towards the middle and away from armpit folds that the straight across can accentuate-always a plus.
Out of curiosity, how does having a large ribcage come up at the Drs? I have always felt that I had a large one and now I want confirmation darnit.
You look beautiful in the first dress so it's hard to say without a pic of you in the second one, but the second one is one of my favorite dresses so I would pick #2. I love rouching in a dress as well...but the first one you have the picture of you in is gorgeous as well. I love Mori Lee gowns.
ToBeMrsG--I was at the doctor for a slight swelling on top of my ribcage and when they did exrays it came up. Funny thing is, they told my brother the same thing when they were checking out his lungs (from chest cold), so I guess it runs in the family!
I was gung-ho to get a Alfred Angelo, Eden Bridal, or Maggie Sottero gown so I was actually surprised to find out that my top 3 dresses that I loved (including these 2) were Mori Lee's! The 2nd dress is Angela Faccenda, a division of Mori Lee. Who knew!
WHAT you are totally ROCKING that dress...I love the way it hugs your sexy curves!!! KEEP IT!!!!
you look better than the model! I know it's been said by PP, but I wanted to say it too. Us curvy girls have to flaunt them whenever possible!!!
I love it with the sweetheart neckline and I think that would look great on you. Being a broad-shouldered girl myself, I wasn't really fond of the straight across tops either. It's amazing what that little change can do.
Dress #1 is the best because of its vertical lines that make you look taller and skinnier. Not sure the sweetheart neckline will be an improvement tho unless it's really accentuated like in this picture
