I'm so proud of how my DIY wedding favors turned out!  I still need to find wedding tags to go with it. I was thinking about making my own. But if any of you know of any great ones that would match, let me know.

I plan to put personalized M&M's inside.  I haven't decided if I just want to focus on our colors or have M&M's that either have our picture on them or our names.  I still have two months to decide.

Sweet tooth, where are those favors from?  They're too cute :)

I saw a cute idea at Michaels where they took the square tin and the same ribbon you have, and rather than tying a bow, they crossed the ribbon ends over each other and used a wax seal at the intersection part.  It looked SO GOOD that I took home the paper with the picture on it!  It was in the wedding section.

The labels posted above are from www.myweddinglabels.com

You could also look on etsy for someone to design some for you, if you wanted labels (which could go on one of the sides).

I want to do this same thing, but fill with tea.  :-)  Where did you get the tins?

I got the tins at Michaels and plan to go back this weekend with my 40% coupon to get more.  I never thought about filling them with tea.  Do you plan to put leaves in there or actual teabags?

I am actually doing something similar with tea. I got circular screw top tins from Papermart (they have awesome prices). I am designing a label to go on the top and we are putting tea bags inside. We are selecting a blend of tea we both enjoy from Teavana and bag it ourselves (they sell tea bags 100 for 4.99 at Teavana)

We just got Teavana here in San Diego just a few months ago.  Where did you go to get labels for the top?  And are you going to tie a ribbon around it as well?

I still can't believe I made these myself!  I'm so proud of my accomplishment.

@msgirard: are you doing circular tea bags, too?  The only company I could find that had circular tea bags was Republic of Tea, which is the kind they have at Panera Bread - it's yummy!  But my fiance wants to give away loose tea instead.  We can't come to a decision.  :-(

If it were me, I would either do the label OR the ribbon, not both.  The sample I saw at Michaels only had the ribbon tied to the lid or the tin, not the whole tin.  And another example (I think I saw it on Elizabeth Anne Designs blog) did just labels - one for the top, and then a long rectangular one to wrap around the sides.

I was thinking about providing loose tea as well, but I'm not sure how that would work for people who have to take their wedding favors on the plane with them.  I'm afraid they may mistake it for something else, if you know what I mean.  What are your thoughts?

That is an excellent point!  You've helped me a great deal!  Because you see, I want to do the teabags and it's my fiance who wants to give away loose tea.  My argument is that the non-tea drinkers won't have an infuser so they can't even use their favor, whereas even non-tea drinkers mught brew up a cup of tea if they had the teabags.  His reply is to also give away tea infusers.  So I will now use this as my new argument!  It doesn't help that the wedding is in his hometown, so it's my entire family that's flying....

Unless you buy additional tea strainers as wedding favors, loose tea probably won't work.  One girl that posted a comment to a previous post recommended that I put mint in there.  She said that it's the only thing she has continued to fill with mints and put in her purse since it was small enough.  What a great idea, eh?  I may consider that over personalized M&M's.  I'll see.  I know chocolate can never go wrong.

I love that idea! How many guests are you having and how many bags of M&M's did you have to order? I thought about ordering some for our candy buffet but they looked expensive!

I'm not sure how much I should order, but they do it in bulk by weight.  You can find out the cost by going to the M&M website.
