Good for you! Do what you want…10k is a decent budget to work with and it sounds like you are finding great ways to cut costs.

@Waitingbee57:  Wow, those people are jerks. Nobody will miss the sit down dinner…unless they are jealous a$$holes who need to find something to complain about.

That sounds awesome to me!! We did a lot of similar things and it turned out wonderfully. it was waaaaay better having 165 incredible people there and serving cheapish food/drinks/etc, than some crazy fancy event for a small number. Sorry some dumbasses don’t see it that way!

This sounds amazing, =).  The absolute best thing about our wedding was all of the wonderful people who were there to celebrate!!  Aside from actually saying “I do,” mothing else really matters.  And this comes from someone who spent well over $100/person on just food and drinks.

@Waitingbee57:  We rented a private beach house for a week and invited our closest friends and family (around 80 people, we expect 50 to attend.)  It was cheaper than renting a traditional wedding venue.

@Waitingbee57:  Get it girl! Have the wedding you want…my most favorite wedding for which I was a guest was simple and not fancy. But there was so much love and caring and family involved, that it was contiguous to me. I felt so full emotionally from that wedding, it was amazing. Focus on that! We’re pulling off a wedding for 175 people in Cali for 15k. You can do this!

Good for you for having our priorities straight and following your heart! We are having a backyard wedding for the same reasons.
