My dress is in a closet at my mom’s house. Instead of buying a garment bag to store it in, she just took a bed sheet, sewed it up, and put the dress in that. Easy peasy!

Hmm well my mom’s house is pretty old but I’ve never had any experience with mothballs at her house. What if you asked to store it at the place where you’re getting your alterations done?

I work at a bridal shop, and we store the gowns in those big plastic zippered garment bags, but EAQ’s idea would work well, too. If you’re worried about moths, throw some mothballs (chemical or cedar) into the bottom of the bag. You can also cut the foot off a pair of pantyhose, stick some mothballs in it, and tie it around the hanger so you have full mothball coverage.

I had the dress I wore for the wedding stored at the bridal salon so it wouldn’t get ruined by the dog or heat.  I picked my dress up the weekend of the wedding and brought it straight from the bridal salon to the place I was getting married at so it wouldn’t get ruined.

I put my dress in a long plastic cover inside my closet. I have done it before with my prom dress and other dresses and it works pretty well.

Btw, I’m also getting married on June!! =]

Good Luck!
