I bought a dress that was not mermaid because I liked the top. The girl who sold it to me said the seemstress could take it in down the sides to make it fitted so I bought it, it came in 4 weeks before my wedding. When I went for my fitting the seemstress said she couldnt do that. It was too late to buy another dress. Yesterday I went to pick it up. They told me not to try it on because it was already pressed. But i wanted to try it on just incase and thats a good thing because it had a hole in it! on the seem that the girl tryied to take in. before we even tied it tight the dresss was busting open down the side! I am sad that I dont have the dress I have pictured myself wearing for so long!!! =(

Call the seemstress right now! If she has a shop, drive over there and have them fix it RIGHT NOW for FREEE! I’d be livid!

I agree!! You need to take it back to her NOW I dont care what time of day it is etc. She needs to fix her mistake for free!!! Having a hole in your weddiing dress is not acceptable!!!I am so sorry!!

I would demand my money back for damages to your dress, and then find a new seamstress ASAP. Personally I wouldn’t trust her with your dress again.

I know this is probably the last thing you need right before your wedding, but like tranquility, organizedbride11 & bakerella said before, you need to get this fixed!

I don’t know how open you are to having a new dress, possibly a sample but heres the situation I had. I bought a gown for an event and it had a small train (not crazy wedding train, but theres was a small one) when I went for alterations the gown had to be hemmed a big, I went back 4 days before the event to pick up the dress after the alterations and THEY CUT THE TRAIN OFF OF THE DRESS and made the hem way too short. I spoke to the manager and because the dress I bought was no longer as it should have been I made them give me a new dress. There was no time to get get the same dress so I picked any dress in the store I wanted and they altered it for free. I don’t know if that might work for you but it could be a way to get the mermaid style you want considering this shop is ruining the dress you purchased. Or another alternative would be to find another seamstress who might be able to make it a mermaid style. some of them can work wonders.

She is fixing it now BUT it still wont be the dress I dreamed of. And who knows it the seam will stay through the night. I would go try to find a last minute dress but I am a size 2 and its impossible to find that size =(

Try going to department stores and looking at off-the-rack wedding dresses – they tend to have a good selection of smaller sizes

Where do you live? This is a long shot, but, maybe a bee on these boards who lives near you would lend you a worn dress for your day?
