We ordered my wedding band back in November and it was to arrive this week. Stopped to check yesterday and they told me I was too early. Never said what was actually wrong. Today they call SO. Turns out they took the payment for the entire cost of ring but didn’t order it. They tried to convince him to use a loaner. New band wont arrive for 8 weeks. 4weeks after wedding! He doesn’t mind but I do. A lot. All of the pictures will be of ring thatdoesn’t even look like the one we picked. I have size 3 finger so picking a ring to arrive faster is possible but I’m out of town through Tuesday which only makes it worse. Also we haven’t told anyone or wore engagement ring so it’s going to get a lot of attention.
Should I shake it off? No big deal? Stressing! Need ideas!

Is it a custom ring, or a plain band? Can you order another ring online and ask the jeweler for a return? And can they give you some sort of credit? Because what they did is sucky and unprofessional.

They cant put a rush on it?? Where is this being ordered from?? 8 weeks is ridiculous! They *have* to be able to do something to get it in sooner than that! My custom band was ordered, made, and ready for pick up in a week and a half.

It has diamonds around it, contoured to fit e-ring and it only comes stock down to a 5. They can alter a band down to a 3 but need to special order this because the diamonds would pop if they resized a 5. So far the other websites for jewelers in Denver show similar. I’ll have to start calling. The loaner offered was just a plain band.

It’s from a large jeweler in Colorado. One that should be able to do more. I would say that they are ordering it from outside the US. Isn’t 8 weeks for an order error %100 their fault ridiculous? 16 weeks from when we paid to arrival. There is a reason they didn’t tell me while I was at the store… Let’s just say they aren’t “my friend” today.

call around and see if you can get a faster turnaround elsewhere, then ask for your money
back. would it be possible for you to get a CZ ring made that looks like yours in less time so at least the pictures look good?

I would be angry as hell and demanding it be free… threaten to post bad reviews all over the internet… That being said we only had like four pictures of the rings out of the 700 photos of the wedding. You can always make some ring porn after you get the ring after the wedding. It’s not ideal, but it’s not the end of the world either.

Just like PP said, they should be able to do more than just a loaner! I told my SO about this and he said “well looks like she just got herself a free ring! This is outrageaous” He thinks this is an unacceptable mistake and that you should get the ring AND your money back ! At the very least they should be able to get a rush order out without any extra cost to you ! Terrible customer service if they dont try to at least get you your ring on time ! Praying for you dear ! Let us know how things go !!

oh hey date twin 🙂
I would be complaining BIG time!! and demanding they get it express since it is THEIR muck up. If they can’t do that see if you can find it/get it from elsewhere faster and demand a refund from the original company. Our rings aren’t ready yet either, we got ours made from family gold and i’m expecting the pick up call anyday now…
Goodluck hope it all works out 🙂

Lame! I hope that it all works out!
If they’re unable to get your rings in earlier, tell them (don’t ask) that you expect to be compensated. Perhaps they’ll pay for an hour of your photog’s time so that you can get the ring shots/couple shots with your rings that you won’t be able to get the day of. Explain to them that having your actual wedding ring is important, not a stand in, and that their mess up is their issue to fix. I hope that they see that this is terrible on their part, and that bad reviews go a looooooong way.

1) That sucks. I am so sorry you’re dealing with this!
2) Can you find a similar sort of band from some place like Claire’s, even, made out of CZ…something that will at least sparkle instead of just be plain in the pics! : (
3) They need to give you a HUGE discount. HUGE. And if they don’t…review, review, review the heck out of them online. Seriously.

Is it a specific design? Do you have photos? I would see if you could get a silversmith to make a replica of the ring for you to use on the day and demand the jewellers pay for it. And I would review like crazy!

@MsTeenyTinyWedding: Can they loan you one of the size fives in stock, and you wear a ring guard with it? I wore a small plastic ring guard with my engagement ring for two weeks before sending it off to be resized, and it wasn’ that uncomfortable.

Ok. So went in to see them. The manager was great about it and I probably caved a bit too easy (I was going to try your discount/rush suggestions first) but the solution is better than yesterday. They are going to take a size 6 of the exact same ring and size it down. Some of the smaller diamonds may fall out between the wedding and when I get the actual, made as a 3 ring but it should look great for the day of the wedding. They’ll take back this ring missing diamonds or not when the one we ordered comes in after the wedding.
Still not sure I like the switch out but at least this solution will look the same as the final set. Sounds like they have no say at all over the order which I thought was interesting. And i probably should have asked for a discount for all of this running around but they are going to have to melt the temporary ring down after I’m done with it so I guess the Canadian farm girl in me felt sorry for them. I’m just relieved that I have a workable solution so I can stop stressing and go curling!
Thanks SO much for all your comments and suggestions.
