Ok, prompted by Miss Duckling's post, I'm feeling brave enough to post pictures of my wood invitation and the rest of the suite. My fiancé and I are getting married at the Lazy Moose Ranch in Jackson Hole, WY and decided to incorporate mountain animals into our theme. We're going to use the heart and the animals in many of the elements of the wedding to tie everything together. I'm really pleased with the way the wood invite turned out - it's really beautiful! And my wonderfully artistic step-mom drew us a map of the Jackson Hole area to use, complete with a fly fishing pole (for my fly fishing obsessed fiancé!).
I just put these in the mail on Tuesday, so none of our guests have received them yet. Actually, I'm desperately praying to the postal gods that they weren't pulverized by the machines at the post office - keep your fingers (and toes) crossed for me!
(Sorry, not really sure how to upload my pictures...says they're too large?)

I'm sorry! I am at a total loss on why nothing is working today! I'm working on figuring it out!
I feel so incompetent that I can't figure how to resize my pictures so I can upload them! Can anyone help me?

Sorry! I'm still trying to figure out how to post! I'm such an idiot! I guess I should have tested this whole process out before trying to post! More coming...
Oh screw it! I can't figure it out! Are the pictures posted good enough? ![]()
THANK YOU ALL!! I'm really happy with the way they turned out. Yes, there was a certain invitation suite featured in a recent issue of Martha Stewart that lent a lot of inspiration to our design! Wink wink. (I'm sure you know the one I'm talking about.) I had a graphic designer friend of mine design the heart with mountain animals (as opposed to the farm animals in the origninal). Then we sent the design to a company in Colorado that specializes in engraving on wood. They did a fantastic job. Each of the invitations has unique markings in the wood - all the grains are different and the colors vary from light ash colored wood to dark cherry. They are just beautiful. We designed a small reply postcard (complete with custom MOOSE stamps), featuring the trout and bison as meal options on the back (since we're having "local" fare for dinner at the reception). And my stepmom did a hand-drawn map, which highlights our rehearsal dinner location, lodging, and some local favorite places in the Jackson Hole area.
These look great, I bet all your guests are going to love getting these in the mail!
wow.... amazing! they are truly beautiful!! a true keepsake for all your guests!
Those are awesome! What a treat it would be for your guests to open something so unique and beautiful!
You did an incredible job on those invitations! They are so creative and special!!
Really fabulous job. Very unique!! beautiful!
Those are very cool! What a great idea! My favor tags were laser engraved wood tags, so I have an idea of what they look like in person. Hope they made it to their destinations safe!!!
These are really fantastic, but then I have a feeling that your whole wedding is going to be amazing... and I'm so jealous that you are getting married in Jackson Hole. It's going to be bee-oo-tiful!
You're guests are going to be floored by those to die for invites! I think that is so cool that you are doing that..I don't usually save invitations but that's one that I would definately keep!
They're beautiful! Congrats!
YAY!!! You posted them!! They look so beautiful! I love the wood! After my post yesterday I'm finding more wood inspiration I love...I may have to do a part 2.
Upload these to the gallery FOR SURE, so many people will be inspired by them! http://gallery.weddingbee.com/
Thanks for sharing! And I can't wait to see pictures from the wedding if these are the invitations!
Wow. Those are amazing!
Does this company do invitations too or was this like a out of norm special request? It's so unique! Love it!
Those are so neat, you did such a great job! Just curious....will they require additional postage?
Here is the website for the company that did them. They are great! Everyone I talked to on the phone was so nice. They sent a proof and a few emails keeping me updated on the process. Highly recommended.

As for postage, yes, it did require more postage because they couldn't go through the machines (the wood is not flexible). I bought $0.80 stamps (of a mountain, of course) to keep them out of the machines. Now I'm just praying that this actually worked. I sent one through to myself and it showed up at my house completely destroyed...which did not give me much hope (and caused a couple hours worth of tears). But with 80 of them going out (as opposed to just 1) I think they have more of a chance. Now I just have to believe that (since it was too late to get them back). Keep praying!! Fingers are still crossed!!
WOW those are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Wow! They're awesome! That is DEFINITELY an invitation I would keep forever. Great job!!!
Well, good news! I've heard from 5 people who all say their invitation made it to them in one piece! I'm breathing a hugh sigh of relief!!
Only 75 more to go!!
Love these so much!!!! Do you have a larger image of the heart you used?
