Let me preface this with saying that I know I’m being whiney/ overdramatic.
Let me also preface this with saying that I work for a health organization.
On top of sitting on my but all day in front of a computer, dealing with several competing priorities and tight deadlines (I know everyone faces this), why, oh why must there be at least one catered meeting a day. And why must that catering consist of pizza, pasta, cookies, soda etc. Why does the healthy workplace committee provide donuts at a healthy workplace fair? SERIOUSLY?? Why does the well-meaning, nurturing woman in the office next to me who is constantly on a diet, come around pass out treats/ bake cinnamon buns for the entire floor on a regular basis?
I know it’s pretty much up to me to ignore all of the temptation, but still!… There’s a reason I avoid buying all that crap… because I know I have zero willpower!

@futuremrs1986: My coworker does the same! She cooks a ton and then brings it in complaining that her and her husband can’t eat it all. My one boss is diabetic and the other has Chron’s so none of us can be eating a ton of junk food!
Try drinking lots of water throughout the day, it will keep you feeling full although that doesn’t do much when cravings strike…. 😉

@futuremrs1986: Lol, I hear you. Yesterday we had our annual town hall meeting with catered breakfast beforehand. It was nothing but carbs, carbs, and more carbs! Ironically, one of the segments of the meetings talked about Work/Life balance and healthy lifestyle. There’s no healthy lifestyle with the million donuts, croissants, bagels, and danishes that were served. 🙂

Do you maybe have something like a suggestion box at your work? Might be worth putting it in there.

Maybe take initiative and bring up that point in your next meeting… There’s no point in having the so called “Healthy Workplace Committee” if they don’t actually take steps to make it a healthy workplace and take donuts to meetings!
The company I work for (hotels/resort) is amazing as far as health goes… we have a discount on a gym nearby, have a Well Balanced program so that guests and staff have lots of healthy choices at mealtimes, AND the company provides employees with lots of different opportunities to exemplify health such as company wide walking competitions (we kept track of how many miles we walked a week for a few weeks and there were prizes).

Just say that you are “on a cleanse”… I never push cheesecake on my friend when she tells me she’s on a cleanse lol

I would be HUGE if I got a catered pizza/pasta meal a day!
What kind of position do you have? Can you bring up swapping the high-cal meals for something more health-concious?

Thanks for the suggestions/ indulging my rant! I’m actually going to be part of the HWC in the new year so hopefully i can have a positive influence. We had a RD come in a talk about nutrition one day, and I shit you not there were cookies there…. Coooooomeon!!!

@BrandNewBride: it’s usually the AAs of respective departments that order catering, so it’s usually their personal preference. I get that not everyone would be stoked about tofu and black beans for lunch, but some balance would be nice.
and why coOkies with lunch who has dessert with lunch

We have food brought in every night for us (we’re all working overtime right now) and is it healthy? Nope. We have to remind them to get salads and veggies for those of us that don’t want to load up on ribs and mashed potatoes. They just don’t think.

My co-workers constatnly eat junk! Cakes, chocolates, pizza, chinese food and a bunch of other crap. I have severe stomache issues so I’m not even able to eat any of these tings so me and my vegan co-worker eat salads and fruits all day instead
