So a few months ago I DIY’ed some pocketfolds for our invitations. I put them neatly in a shoe box and stacked the shoe box on top of my rubbermaid containers holding all of the wedding stuff. Here’s a pic of said shoe box…
Well my OCD fiancé decided one day to move all of my wedding stuff around when I wasn’t home. Well today, which has already been an awful day, he was messing around with his aquarium. This aquarium is his pride and joy lol. I on the other hand was in the midst of a non-wedding related tragedy when he looked at me and said “This really is a shitty day.” I immediately knew something awful had happened. He said “You know those blue things in the shoe box you made for the wedding, well I put the box under the aquarium stand. And it leaked.” I just started crying hysterically before I even looked at them. Hysterical!!! Then I saw them and it got worse. Ugly cry worse. Snot running down my face and weird animalistic noises coming from somewhere deep in my throat worse! THEY WERE RUINED!! Anybody who has made pocketfolds knows they are NOT a piece of cake. Here’s an after pic…
Now, while my fiancé felt bad (as he should) I know he didn’t do it on purpose. But he felt bad enough to look online with me for pocketfolds premade in as close as we could get to the same color and he ordered them right away. The wedding is in 5 months and I do not have the time or energy to do this again. But now I’m worried that we jumped the gun. We found the closest color at lucky paper. Here’s the link http://www.luckypapers.com/pocketfolds/solid/aqua_lagoon_pocketfold_invitation_card/
i didn’t research like I normally would I just went with it and now I’m having buyers remorse. Has anybody used this company before? Calming reassurance would be nice lol. Thanks bees!!

Oh my gooooodness – I’m so sorry this happened!

Oh good Lord. This sounds like something mine would do. He goes on cleaning sprees and puts my wedding projects in the most random places. I’m sure they’ll be great, I love the color and it looks very close.

The color looks very similar…. I’m sure it will work out fine! I would have reacted the same way!

I told him that ONE day (not today) this would be a funny story lol

Oh man! So sorry this happened. I checked out the site, it looks to be a reputable company. I think you should be okay. Hope everything works out.

UGH I’m soooo sorry Bee! HUGS. Take a deep breath knowing its invitations that yes it would be nice if they matched and you did spend a lot of time on, so I totally get that you’re upset about the time wasted. However the new invites look very similar and will be lovely. No one will know the difference and you’ll laugh someday.
This is the type of thing that you make him feel really guilty about and make him buy you something expensive

Oh no!! When I read your post I gasped in horror! I totally feel for you! I made all my pocketfold invites by hand, they are so much work!! I would have had the same reaction as you.
I’m sure the ones that you bought will be great though! 🙂 The colour is very similar.

Thanks ladies!!! I knew ya’ll would understand lol. Most people have just looked at me like “it’s just paper”. I’m like screw the paper it’s the wasted time and the pride I felt in them that hurt the worst! Now that the pocketfolds are on their way I can find humor in it. And if this is the worst that happens I can deal lol!!

Honestly, @dmuszall just got chills reading this. I am sure it will be ok. The color might not be exact but I use that color for work all the time and it is nice.
We had a close call recently… I bought a stamp with an ink pad for our return address. We stamped 150 envelopes and laid them out flat on the table to dry. The next morning I collected them to put them on the coffee table so we could eat breakfast… and proceeded to spill a glass of water all over them… Thank G-d, only 5 were totally ruined (they already had stamps on them). We now have a rule – no wedding stuff and food in the same space.
But to your point, @noelleebelle mine does that too. His office is a mess but if I leave one wedding paper on the table, it must be moved… And then I can’t find wedding things. I now have a box in his office I put it all in… but the presents started arriving recently. Oy.

@dmuszall: OMG!! I’m so sorry! I know how you feel. Stuff like that has happened to me and you do start hysterically crying cause you’re just so stressed out about everything. Phew, at least it’s over and it worked out. I’m with you on invitations taking too long. I’m way overdue on addressing mine and I just can’t make myself do it. There’s never time! We don’t have the money to pay for a calligrapher, but I’m really starting to want to just so I don’t have to do it. LOL!
