I’ve used both, and while the My Fitness Pal website makes it a little more convenient, I like Lose It better.  It’s way easier to track things with Lose It! – you can scan barcodes, instead of searching and scrolling through different kinds of food to find what you want.

You can scan barcodes in the myfitness app too.

I used both but dumped the LoseIt app in favor of myfitness because I had a lot more friends on myfitness and it makes accountability a lot better. I think they’re about the same though really.

I haven’t tried MFP, but I really like LoseIt.  I don’t do the social networking – I just track my calories and exercise.  I like that it saves your food, you can repeat whole meals, that it has a ton of brand-name grocery store and restaurant food, etc.  Quite user friendly.

I haven’t used Lose It! in over a year, but I use MFP right now and I love it! If I am remembering Lose It correctly, MFP is a little easier to use in my opinion.

Another plus, they’ve just merged it with RunKeeper so your runs are automatically put into your day on MFP!

@urchin:  Never used Lose It, but I have used MyFitnessPal on and off for the better part of 2 years, and I love it. HUGE food database, barcode scanner, saves “my meals” and “my recipes”, all around awesome. I don’t participate in the Message Boards, but I love scrolling through the Success Stories for motivation.

I use MFP and have never used LoseIt, though everything that has been a positive for LoseIt, MFP also has (bar code scanning, remembering food items, copying whole meals, etc) I’m not sure if LoseIt has this option, but I like MFP because you can add in your own foods, and since the community is so big, a lot of people have added foreign dishes into the database (since we eat a lot of Vietnamese dishes at home), so that makes it really easy.

I have been using MFP since February and I have lost 28 pounds. It is easy to log my food, but the support system is awesome.
