So, FI and I are out running errands today, and we get home from the grocery store. Arms full of groceries, he grabs the mail and announces I got 2 (yes TWO) new magazines. Martha Stewart Weddings and Modern Bride. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!! I have been eyeing these up at the store but still have a few to finish reading (thanks to my mom for sending me MN-Bridal mags, too!) - but here's the weirdest thing.... I DID NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THESE MAGAZINES. Here they are, in plain view, with MY NAME and MY ADDRESS on the mailing label!!!

Has this ever happened to you???

No it hasn't but I wonder if some vendor you are dealing with sold out your information.

I think most likely it is:

    a) A gift from an anonymous person like your mom

    b) A free trial from someone who got your info through some bride-related thing (registering at a dress store, wedding planner, etc.)

Just monitor the credit cards to make sure the 'free' trial doesn't end with you getting charged (you are not liable for any charges if you didn't authorize them!) and enjoy!

Have you been to any bridal shows/fairs lately?

I went to a couple and they gave my info to all the vendors that were there. And i have been receiving junk since then. Although, I never have received free magazines by mail.  But I did at the shows.

Have you ever been to David's Bridal?  They will sell your information.

yes, yes yes!!!! I went to the huge North Carolina Bridal Fair about a month ago, that very well could have been. And I still get maybe 2-3 pieces of junk mail per week (and daily David's email), but never a full magazine like this. Hmmmm.

Does anyone know any good ways to discontinue David's emails?? I already got my dress from a small little bridal shop. Thanks, bees!!! :)

Have you sent them a message? I was geting emails and phone calls and when the phone calls started arriving at 8:02 am and then if I didn't pick up would then dial me back at 9:03 and finally I had on it a Saturday and picked up ready to tell them that i picked a local bridal shop. When I picked up, it was a recording. But if you listen to the pain of the recording, at the end you can press nine or something to stop receiving the calls. Perhaps an email message with "Remove me from your mailing list" might help. I no longer get their emails either, and I had sent several emails before this finally happened.

    Good luck. Enjoy the magazines.

You could also call subscription services to check on how they got your information and whether its  free trial not. The reason I suggest this is that they may try to bill you at a later date. They won't tell you to send the magazines back so its worth a phone call!

Wow, I wish I was getting free subscriptions. I spend sooo much money on all these magazines. I have every single one there is.

Like the others said, call them and ask. Wouldn't it come with a "Gift For You" type of thing? Hmm.... weird.

When I first got engaged, I was brand new to the world of internet blogs, and when I signed up on TheKnot, little did I know I would receive something every single day in the mail about weddings. LOL.

To boot, I put in my fiances address, not mine b/c that's where we are mostly, and he was like WHAT THE HELL is this? Lol. I got like an armful of junk mail everyday. Haha. Now it has gone down, just a little bit, but yeah, it's still coming.
