Usually those "personal designers" are supposed to be cheaper than the actual couture designer dresses!
While I haqven't seen anything like this, could you describe it well enough to a seamstress to have her whip it up for you for like, $1,000? In white if that's your wish?
Hmm. If it only comes in ivory then maybe it was a silk dress? If so, the price seems right. The dress I ended up with was from a store that tells you everything about the designer, lets you take pictures, etc. I STILL can't find any evidence of my dress online. I would suggest googling random terms like "dress silk sweetheart layered Swarovski" or some other combination of the descriptors you used. You might get pucky!
I have heard of stores doing what you describe. Hopefully someone local to the area may have some more info, like if the store is legit or not! GL!
I meant LUCKY! You might get LUCKY1 Not pucky. ??? I don't even know what that means!! :-)
Honestly, I think I may have to give up hope on the dress unless I feel like traveling all the way back to CA to buy it...and I don't.
So...oh well.
i would call the store with a sob story. tell them your mom said she will buy the dress for you but she has to see it first, or you want a picture so you can shouw your great aunt who is in the hospital and can't make it to the wedding. If they can make up stories and lie, why shouldn't you! Tell them how far away you are and how you are ready to buy the dress from them. And how you loved their store and how this dress is the one, you just NEED a picture. Who knows, some saleslady might cut you a break!

Hi ladies. So a few weeks ago I was visiting family in California and went to several stores to try on dresses. I found a Jasmine I liked (T192), but I wasn't quite ready to make a purchase. I wanted to try on several more gowns to make sure the Jasmine is what I wanted. So I went to Deborah's Bridal in Upland and tried on a couple of gowns there. When the consultant realized I had also been looking at a Jasmine at another store, she pulled another dress even though it wasn't in the mermaid/trumpet style that I had originally told her I wanted.
It was a dropped waist ball gown with a sweetheart neckline, and a very long, layered train. The top of the bodice was embellished with Swarvoski crystals. The waistline was also embellished with the crystals, in a "criss-cross" type design. There were embellishments on the train and the front of the skirt (at the bottom). The consultant told me the gown was only available in ivory because of the material the dress was made of.
Needless to say, I could not take photos and the store will tell me nothing about the designer. When I called today, the consultant said something about it being a "new designer who made the dress exclusively for their store." So if it's made exclusively for their store, why so reluctant to tell me the name of the designer and the style number? Or to send me a photograph? Because it's not made exclusively for their store. Which tells me it IS floating around out there somewhere. Deborah's Bridal had it priced at $1600, which really could mean nothing if it's just been marked up by the store. And they DO mark up their prices quite a bit...the Jasmine I tried on at Bridal Elegance in Torrance, CA was only $1100, but Deborah's Bridal in Upland was charging $1545 for the same dress. (In light of that, I do NOT recommend Deborah's Bridal for your gown purchase).
Anyway, so I loved the dress. I'm almost wondering if it's a knock off of a high end designer gown. I have looked eeeeeeverywhere online that I can possibly think of, and I've come up with nothing. If you ladies have seen a dress like this or know what I'm talking about, please let me know. I really loved the gown, but it's in CA and I'm in NC, and I can't try it on again!
