My dress is orange in the back and I am doing a french manicure. Even if it is "out dated" I still think it looks good.
Can you post a picture of the dress/shoes?
I enjoy things like this too much. ;)
If you want to go bold, do red. You could also do a very very dark red/almost black. If you want to go more subtle, do an almost-nude color or a sheer pink.
I think big long fake plastic white tips look outdated - not necessarily the french manicure in general. I think it depends on your personal every-day style. What do you wear to work? What do you wear when you go out? If you don't normally wear any nail polish, red is kind of scary. But if you always wear outgoing colors, go for it!
I think people try so hard to look good and create a certain look for their wedding day, that they can end up being un-recognizable! If you don't normally wear makeup, ever, then don't splurge on wedding day makeup! Same goes with nail polish, accessories, and hair.
Completely agree with Corgi! LOVE the idea of red but staying true to you is most important!
Sorry for the messiness in the background & the lousy cell phone pic, but here's the dress and shoes for ya lilyfaith.
That's an adorable dress! I was thinking maybe I'd do red in my manicure as a subtle nod to the shoes. This is one of my all time faves and it's a pretty universally flattering shade. I think I probably wouldn't do red in the pedicure, so that the shoes stand out more. What about some sort of a sheer peach or pink? I like the idea of something subtle, even maybe with a little shimmer. I like this gold/champagney color. I also recently read that purples of all shades are in for fall, so you might try that, too. I love this new color, which is what my pedicure is right now.
I am a red girl. Dark blood red in the winter and red red in the summer. Or a nude sheer color in the summer usually for fingernails. So, my vote is always red. :)
Okay, here's what I ended up choosing!
They didn't have a sheer I liked for my toes, so I did the red on my toes, too :)

This thread got me thinking, if you were wearing a black and white dress, as a guest to a wedding, with red shoes, what color would you paint your toe/finger nails?
