@libertine_lady:  I would keep it a neutral color. You can always paint your nails after the proposal but before taking photos if you want! My ring has some color in it and it’s a rose gold band so some nail colors don’t look as good as others.

Also, keeping it neutral will really keep the focus on the sparkly new ring on your finger! But at the end of the day, just do what you’re comfortable with! Heck, the day my FI proposed, I was wearing a big warm sweater, gumboots and literally NO MAKEUP at all! And I even suspected a proposal was happening that day, but that’s just what I’m most comfortable with. We have about 50 photos from that day and I’m bare faced and in my gumboots in each one. It doesn’t really matter, you’ll just be so over the moon anyway!

@libertine_lady:  Do you already know what the ring will look like? Post a pic!

I painted my nails a pale pink when I knew the proposal was coming soon.. It was pretty neutral. But my ring is RG, so I actually thought they clashed! Honestly though, I don’t think anyone will care half as much as you do haha! I’m sure no one cared about my polish!

Neutral, so everyone focuses on your new shiny ring!

Does the nail color really matter? I tihnk if you usually do fun, funky colors that what you should have when you get your ring. Look like yourself. I don’t think anyone’s going to look at pictures and think, “Gosh, I don’t think I can support this union since she has purple nails with that ring…” I didn’t even realize nail polishes “matched” rings. Unless you’re planning on wearing only neutral nail polish for the rest of your life in order to match constantly, I don’t see what the fuss is about.

I’m a big fan of light pink/neutrals that don’t outshine your ring but still look done. This is OPI Tickle my France-y and it’s my favorite engagement ring nail color

@cjah:  [Shameless threadjack warning!] ACK your nail color is perfect. Have to hunt it down now. Do you mind giving me an idea of what your complexion is like? I’m very pale (Irish, redhead, freckles, the whole nine yards), and pink colors on me tend to look EXTRA pink, but I love the way that nail color looks on you and want to know if it’d work for me, too 😛

@libertine_lady:  Early congrats! I agree with the “be yourself” mode of thought. Who cares what color your nails are? Neutral is good, being yourself is better. Don’t overthink it or obsess over the nail color – enjoy the anticipation and try not to predict too much 🙂

@cutiebomb7789:  Thanks! I guess I’m kinda your typical white girl? I have pinkish/warm undertones – not cool or olive. The nail color has a beige base so it isn’t bumblegum pink at all (which is why I like it – professional but still technically pink). I looked for a long time trying to find the perfect “I just got engaged” color and this is definitely it for me. Google it and there are tons of images!

@jessicadarling:  Mmmm…yeah pale pink is so pretty! And make sure if you are getting tips to ask them to clip them nicely. You don’t want them being the normal long, ratchet length that the nail salons love doing. Keep the focus on that ring!

Ladies I don’t know how anybody can have pretty nails for a proposal when they’ve been waiting like we have… my cuticles have been bitten beyond repair. Yell
