Okay, I know this is dumb, but for a former nail biter (only fallen off the wagon once in the last 18 months) this is HUGE! My other nail biters will know what I mean…
Anywho, I just need like half a second to brag about how fabulous I feel my nails look right now. I mean, the length? It’s ALL mine! Sure, they’re shellac’d to help keep them strong, but take that off, and they’re still there. Case in point?
AND!! How incredible it has been to be engaged and not have the dreaded gnawed fingers?! For YEARS I have had nightmares about this, and I am happy to say – crisis averted.
Again – dumb. I know.
Thank you for your time.

@MargaritaVille: Beautiful!! And, congratulations!!

No way is this dumb to brag about, I HEAR YA!!!! Your nails look fantastic!! I would say they almost look like gel nails, but natural gel nails. Must be the shellac? I don’t bite my nails and they grow long but when I break a nail, I get oh so freakin mad!

Your nails are GORGEOUS! Great job not biting!
I am an ex-biter and found shellac VERY helpful in keeping me from biting 🙂

AWESOME!!! Great accomplishment! Rock those nails lady!

Awesome! I quit biting my nails around 10 years ago and it’s not an easy feat!

Yay! Your nails are gorgeous 🙂

Congratulations! Your nails and your ring are both gorgeous.

@LovelyLaura: agreed! If it wasn’t for shellac, I’m pretty sure I’d still be gnawing away on them.

@MargaritaVille: very pretty!! This is a very good way for you to learn to not take anxiety out on your nails. I did the same at around 21 and have never buy them again. Although I mess with my cuticles all the time. What? They’re so bitable!!

@MargaritaVille: Are you kidding me? Those are yours??? That is HUGE! So amazing to me, I don’t think I would ever be able to do that — so proud of you!

Yay! It gives me hope! I’m a biter AND a peeler. I peeled off an entire gel manicure out of nervousness while I was waiting to be engaged! Yeah, it was not pretty. Thanks for showing me your success!

Yay! One of my bridesmaids’ bf said that she needs to stop biting her nails before he proposes because he wants the ring pictures to look nice (lol!). I should show her your success story!

@WillyNilly: Ya, I’m still working on conquering the cuticles. I think after gnawing them for so long they grow in so much thicker and they’re just awful. I see people with beautiful cuticles, but it’s usually because they’ve left them alone.
@Lily_of_the_valley: If I can do it, you can do it! Regular.manicures. If you feel yourself starting to gnaw, MANICURE TIME! It’s tedious at first, but once they grow out and look awesome, you’ll find yourself always taking care of them. Keep a nail file with you all the time, or some clippers, take your Biotin tablets (you can get them ANYWHERE by the other daily multivitamins), and just TRY and keep your fingers out of your mouth. I started with acrylics for about a month to get some initial length, then had those removed and shellac manicured until they healed. And with the Biotin supplements, my nails are SUPER strong. I’m seriously so shocked at how strong they are. Even just taking them a few times a week helped.
