I have a white gold RHR I had resized and dipped, but I think the jeweler redipped it before resizing it because it’s clearly a yellowish color where they resized it but everything else looks really nice

I’ve had mine dipped twice (once before engagement pics, once before the wedding) but the first time I picked it up a few hours later, the second time I came and picked it up the next day.

I hate not having my ring on. My hands look weird without it. I feel for you!

Yes, from what I can tell it is pretty common to get them redipped.  Some like the patina that wears down after a bit and others like to keep it bright and shiny.  i am probably in the later category….for now!

:/ I’m sorry you’re ringless. I was ringless for 6 weeks immediately after my engagement, so I know how sad it can be (totally FWP though lol).

Next time, can you go somewhere that does it while you wait? I’ve had rings reshanked by a bench jeweler, and I watched him do it. It took like 20 min. I’ve also waited for my rings to be rhodium dipped, and I would drop it off, shop, then come back in an hour or two.

I hate waiting for my ring. I’m really paranoid that someone will lose it, steal it (employee or robber), or damage it.

Just curious, what is the general cost of redipping? I am planning on doing it before the wedding !

I had my E ring redipped before the wedding so it would match my band (Tiffany style solitare, 2mm plain WG band– very simple). The E ring was noticeably a different color from wearing it for a year. Diamonds Direct (where my rings came from) redip for free while you wait. Since my ring is so simple it took about 20 minutes. I have no idea what it’d be if you had a pave setting or somethign more intricate.

I have to have my white gold promise ring redipped every 6 months. It’s a burden to me because like anyone, I HATE giving up my ring for days at a time. My SO and I have been looking at platinum for my engagement ring because I am in the medical field and the constant washing of my hands turns the white gold into an unattractive yellow within a couple of months.

I plan to have my rings redipped but I honestly haven’t had to yet.  I’ve had my ering for 16 mos and my wband for 3 mos but they are the same color.  No greying of my ering yet nor are there visible scratches.

I’m one of those “lucky people” who wears the rhodium plating off quite frequently. I’m without my rings for a couple of weeks a few times a year for plating. I wait until I absolutely can’t stand it anymore before I send them off but it’s still at least every 3 months.
