I have known without a doubt I will be taking my FH’s last name. It’s awful, long and Dutch compared to my short and adorable Italian but it means the world to him. So a Toetenel I will become. But yesterday we filled out our marriage license, and it took forever to write those 8 letters. When we got to the venue to finish the wedding plans, I MELTED DOWN. Started crying and saying but I don’t WANT to be a Toetenel! Guess I wasn’t as prepared as I thought!

@crr219191: His last anme isn’t so bad. I’m changing my last name to FI’s when we’re married. So I’m saying farewell to my 7-letter German name everyone screws up anyways, for a 13-letter Greek name that is easy to sound out if you really try, but I’m sure people will screw up anyways lol..

Oh, no! I thought I was going to be so happy to get rid of my terrible Hungarian last name… Now I miss it a little bit!
So sorry you’re losing (or maybe not?) a really cute one!

your new last name isn’t so bad 🙂 at least it’s very unique and it sounds nice when spoken aloud (who knows if i’m saying it right though)…
i get a racially ambiguous and blandly generic last name with my marriage…hooray for not being stereotyped by my name?
@Kandiss16: lol hilarious!
