My DH is planning to go this weekend and get a tattoo and he wants to have my name included in it. Now, I’m not a big fan of tattoos at all, but DH has several. He has portraits of both of his children, one on each of his forearms, that are pretty cool. But, I’m kind of weirded out by this… I truly love my DH, and have no intentions of ever having our relationship end. However, this is a second marriage for both of us, therefore we both clearly know how things can go bad.
Does it seem odd that DH wants to have my name tattoo’d on him? Does anyone else have a SO w/their name tattoo’d on them?

name tattoos are almost always a bad idea.

@kitzy: See, that’s how I feel about it! I’m not saying I don’t want to be w/him forever, I just can’t understand why he’s so insistent on getting something so permanent w/my name on it… Heck, what if I died? Yes, it would be sad, but I’d want him to try to find someone else to be happy & that person would have to look at my name on his arm forever?….

FI and I both love tattoos and have a few each but we will NOT get eachothers names tattooed. We have always said that is the kiss of death for any relationship.

I’ve tried talking him out of it….. No luck….

I would totally want my name tatooed on my guy, but he says the only woman’s name he’ll ever get tatooed on him is his mom’s!

Name tattoos – especailly of SOs – are always a bad idea in my book!

Name tatoos are bad juju. No matter what your intentions are.
My only exception to the name tattoos are for your own children. Because they’ll always be your children no matter what.

I wouldn’t do it. I have a few tattoos, and just…no. I would never do a name unless it was in momory of someone or possibly my children!

Kiss of death, IMO. Just say no. 🙂

I’m a strong beleiver that name tattoes should only be for:
– your children
– dead people
