In my family it is just *not* ok to have the same name as someone else (no one is named after anyone… of 40+ cousins, none of us have the same name/variation/named our kids something similar, etc.). But with a family so large, that is a LOT of names that I can’t name my future children. 🙂
So as a bit of a FUN poll… what are the names you would consider naming your future children, but can’t?
Girl: Sarah, Mary, Kate/Katie, Megan, Erin, Natalie, Heather
Boy: Joseph, Jason, Nicholas, Lucas, Philip, Evan

- Wedding: September 2014 - Turf Valley
My three favorite boy names: Liam, Landon, and Reed.
My FI’s name AND HIS TWO BROTHERS have those three names. My three favorite names are all taken by Fiance and his two brothers. How is it possible that my luck is that bad? LOL.

Natalie, but only because I dated a Natalie and it would be weird. I love that name though!!
I wanted to name a kid Fox, but 1. my husband doesn’t like it and 2. I know someone who already did. SIGH.

Kyle and Sean are two of my favorite boy names. I can’t use either of them because I’ve dated guys with both of those names…
I loved the name Reagan for a girl, but my best friend’s family named their dog that, so no.

I love names that end in -er (Hunter, Roger), but our future last name ends in -er, so those are all out, dammit.

My Fiance loves the name Alex, but one of my friends and my little sister also love that name and want their future kids to have that name so I crossed it off our list.
I always have loved Eric Ryan. But my Fiance crossed that one off the list too. His reasoning “I knew a guy named Eric once. I didn’t like him”.

Names of exes!
Boys: Greg, Richard, Kevin
Girls: Heather, Sara, Beth, Maria, Danielle

Olivia (too popular)
Oliver (DH says it’s a dog’s name…. I loved it cause it sounds the same in spanish, english, french… I ended up naming my mini yorki like that 🙂
Isabel (ex best friend, too similar to isabella and I HATE Twilight and it’s too popular)
Sofia (too popular)
Valentina (too popular now, a name of a hot sauce in Mexico)
I like names that end with O… even for girls… but DH’s last name starts with O… This will be a tricky one…
I love Liam… but it’s soo popular… 🙁

Olivia. Because it’s going to be the Jessica/Stephanie/Jennifer/etc of the 2010s.
Mattia. Because it’s my cousin’s babyboy’s name.
We finally agreed on our hypothetical future child’s name, and it doesn’t belong to anyone we know/heard of.

@Mrs_O: My BFF named her daughter like the sauce (not after). And they live in Mexico. Nobody ever actually conects them btw – so it’s all good. Also, she’s just too cute to think of anything else =)

I love a lot of “-er” names but our last name has too many R’s so those are out. My cousin used Harper anyway and it’s so popular now I probably wouldn’t use it anyway.

I love the name Ryan for a girl, but my ex immediately preceeding Fiance is named Ryan. So that’s not happening.

@jivet: I’d name my kid whatever I want. With billions of people in the world, no one persons owns a name (unless you have a trademark, which I will need to see proof of :P). If someone doesn’t like it, too bad for them.

@Mimoza: My name is Olivia. I’m 25. I HATE all of the Olivia’s running around now!
I didn’t know anyone with the same name as me when I was growing up and now they’re everywhere!

@howsweetitis: Same here. -er last name, so all of the first names that end in -er are out (and I love so many of them!)
