Are you talking about the Civil War Museum in Harrisburg? I can't speak from a brides point of view, but I have been to a wedding there and from a guest's pov, it was nice. Food was yummy, place was beautiful, no issues on the guests end.
I don't have any experience with them for special events (I worked for PHMC as a volunteer but that's beside the point), but I do love the museum and hate that they've been talking for so long about getting rid of it since it doesn't pull in much revenue (I mean hello, it's in a really weird location, but it's such a gem), so I say major kudos if you decide to have your wedding there! It's a great place and you'll be helping them out with some much needed funds. I hope it works out for you.
@veganglam: You volunteered for PHMC? I interned with Collections this summer! What site were you at?
I from what I heard this summer since they built a new building and still putting out new exhibits (something I can't say for the SMOP) that they are there to stay for a while.
Right now it looks like we aren't doing a second reception- maybe a sort of celebration after I get my masters in 2-3 years. If so then I may want to help PHMC out and have at the SMOP (with the silly statue).

FH and I are having our ceremony and reception in Texas in a preservation hall but because I grew up in Lancaster Co a good number of my family friends and high school friends cannot attend (distance and venue size). So we are looking at having a second reception up north that compliments our love of history.
I've looked at other PHMC sites but we both love the National Civil War Museum has anyone used them and feel like they wish to share?
