Sadly my Natural hair journey has ended the big chop i did in July worked wonders and my hair is almost as long as it was before the chop.

But for some reason it seemed like my hair was dying. I live in Colorado and its very dry up here, no matter what I put in it my hair looked terrible and dry dry dry.

So i've decided to go back to the relaxer life, im young and like to change my hair up A LOT. I still love natural hair and maybe one day when I get older Ill attempt to go natural again!

@missmarchmommy: My stylist has been trying to get me to go natural for years but I can't. I was getting a relaxer once every 3 months or so and now I have pushed it back to once every 6 months and hope that I can get to the point of once a year...lol I don't know if that can happen! My hair does not look any different but it has to be professionally flat ironed. I can make it look fair but not silky straight like they do at the salon. How long did you stay natural?

@missmarchmommy: I'm on Ft. Carson!  My hair actually retains a lottt of moisture, and I'm hardly ever outside lol. But I use Cantu shea butter leave in conditioner, coconut oil, and shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie when I want to style it..

You are both superheros because I can't even think of TRYING to go natural. I've had my hair relaxed forever and workout 5 times a week... CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE!!!

    Kudos to you both

@missmarchmommy: Have you tried the Nexxus Emergency? It stops breakage and is the best on the market that I have tried. Also, I only use organic jojoba oil on my hair. Its great and does not have a lot of junk in it like the other oils. When I leave the salon I put a dime size about on my edges and massage through the hair and thats it. I also use it once a month for a deep treatment. Its also great for this dry winter skin. Look at it on Amazon they both have stellar reviews.

    Your son is adorable!

@hecallsmelove: It was a very difficult transition my hair has been relaxed since i was 6 years old. So it was all I ever knew. For some people natural hair is healthier for them. I guess I just was not one of them, my hair looks and feels much better with relaxer. Also another myth about natural hair is that it's less work THAT IS A LIE FROM THE PIT OF HELL!!! lol i found that is was more work!

@missmarchmommy: Fire Marshall Bill!!!!!!lol. Once I tried the Nexxus Emergency breakage treatment, Nexxus Pro Mend shampoo with the Nexxus Hydrating Conditioner/Creme with the combination of organic jojoba oil for a little shine I promise my hair is growing like crazy. It looks like my young college hair before I cut it all off. However, I only flat iron it twice a month and rarely put heat on it between appointments. Good luck!

I do a mean Fire Marshall Bill impersonation Laughing

I am HAIR LAZY so natural is way too much for me. I barely call to schedule for my relaxer (and I'm every 6 weeks). OH CRAP... I need to call right now to get an appointment for next week. Thank goodness this topic came up!!!

@missmarchmommy: I am natural also it is hard to keep my mane moistured also. But, I did try something and it keeped my hair soft. I mixed oil olive, water and glycerin to mist my hair and immediately add raw shea butter and style. The is a homemade leave-in that I do want to try. It contains jojoba oil, kinky curly knot today, whole leaf aloe vera juice, and castor oil. I have been hearing great reviews you use about 2 tablespoons of both to create the leave in.

@missmarchmommy: My texture is close to that but I'm not mixed and if I am I don't know with what! lol. Try the Dove products with the jojoba oil.

@missmarchmommy: Sorry to hear about your attemp at going natural.  I have been natural for over three years and the journey never really ends.  As your hair gets longer the products that used to work don't seem to do the trick any more.  If you ever decide to go natural again I would suggest by starting with a mild shampoo and a goo hydrating conditioner (trial & error). Spray your hair with a mixture of glycerine, olive oil, water and an oil for scent.  Keep your hair in protective styles and as it gets longer introduce a mixture od coconut oil, shea butter, castor oil, and olive oil.  I promise... it works.
