A couple of days ago I popped by to see OH and drop him off a USB stick with some films on it because he was doing an 18 hour shift and was practically talking to himself already.
We had a talk a week or so ago where he said he was going to marry me, and I could start planning a little.
So, I kind of did a bad/opportunistic thing.
I put a folder on the USB with some wedding inspiration pictures in it, including the one ring I have fallen madly in love with. I think I titled it something like “Don’t open this if weddings freak you out”.
Anyway, he rang me just now to talk about it.
He loves the venue I picked. I said that maybe that would be where we end up, and he said he can’t picture it being anywhere else. So hurrah for that.
And then we discussed the ring. He said he hadn’t tried to find it online because he was too scared of what a rock that big was going to cost. I said it wasn’t a diamond, it was morganite, and he shouldn’t worry too much. Its $968/£630, 14k palladium white gold & cushion cut. Its beautiful. I don’t think that the price is extortionate – traditionally the ring is supposed to cost 3 months wages, and that wouldn’t even be a month’s. He was relieved, and said that even if it had been a diamond, if it was what I wanted, its what he would have gotten me, it just would have taken longer. So, I’m going to get my ring. I just don’t know when, and that’s okay by me.
So, good news. He likes my ideas. His exact words were “I was really nervous I was going to hate everything, but it was all perfect.”
I plan on sitting him down for the “timeline” talk. We’re looking to move in together in a few months, and I would like the commitment that if we live together, we will be engaged within a year.
Anyway. Just a little update/progress post.
What do you think, is the ring price silly? Am I allowed to be a little bit very excited?
