Is there someone on post that you could talk to about this? That would be your best source of information.
ETA: By someone on post, I mean someone who deals directly with this program and would know it better than anyone on here!
He gets 36 months, so you can use however many you want and he will get the leftover. It's not measured in money but rather months, so if you say you have 1.5 years left you wouldn't be using all of his benefits. He can just transfer part to you, and use the rest for himself. How long is the dental program?
@LoveMySailor1018 The Dental program is 4 years and 3 if he goes year round. Its just so confusing because on the phone yesterday one of the representatives said he was able to use tuition assistance for the entire program....BUT when we looked tuition assistance up it has a maximum and fixed cap which might not be as beneficial since dental schools range from $90,000-$130,000!!!!
@abbie017- i did go to the base here to discuss it with someone but their hours are HORRIBLE and they are not available on the weekends. Also, when i was able to see someone they made me make an appt and haven't got back to me yet. My husband thinks its because we're on an Army base and that they "just don't care" or make the Navy a priority since it isn't a Navy base.
1-888-442-4551 is the toll-free number to contact the Department of Veterans Affairs, try them they'll know more than me. =]
I'm on it!! Thank you So MUCH. This really means a lot to us :) have a great day!

Hi Everyone,
I'm extremely new to this and usually check wedding bees out for all sorts of information for the planning of our wedding. I have definitely received majority of my information from all of you bees so a big THANK YOU for that. However i have a question about the educational benefits in the military. I would post this on some of those military spouse websites but the ones I have been reading.....well in some of the responses people are just plain RUDE. They're extremely mean and non-helpful. it makes me think why they even responded to the questions to begin with. Anyway, i decided to post this and see if some of you fellow military spouses can help me figure this out.
My husband is in the Navy and when he and I got married (civil-our "wedding" will be in 2014! yayy) i was in college but then we moved and i was unable to finish. Now I'm looking to finish, i have maybe 1 1/2 years to 2 max to finish my BA and was going to use my husbands GI Bill. Here's the issue, my husband is also planning on going to Dental School next year. My question is if I use some of his GI bill now can he still use tuition assistance when he goes to dental school and if it doesn't cover use the remainder of the GI bill? I was told that tuition assistance will cover everything since he is active duty right now. I want to finish my degree but i don't want to put a damper on him going to dental school since he REALLY wants to be a dentist and in a way, its HIS GI bill, he's the one that worked for it. Is there a way that he can still go to school and I am able to get the remainder of my semesters done as well since i don't have to do a full 4 years?
Btw, he has been serving for 7 years and yes his contract extends thru 2017. Sorry for it being so long, this will really help me a lot! Thank you so much.
