Did anyone watch Fashion Star last night on NBC? What did you think? Would you buy any of the designs chosen by the buyers?
I think the concept is very inovative from a business point of view. It’s basically a whole hour of marketing for the participating retailers, but it’s not in your face annoying. I checked and some of the designs are already sold out. And I’m sure that while people were shopping those designs they purchased other items as well. It’s really a win win for the retailers and the designers. I hope they have more seasons with more retailers.
The only thing I didn’t like is that all the retailers have such different price points. For instance the skirt that I really loved and could see myself getting was purchased by Saks and went on sale for over $300. No way. But if H&M or Macy’s got it, I’d definitely buy it at those lower pricepoints.
I think this is a huge advance in making television programming more interactive for viewers.

I didn’t watch, but I was just thinking about watching it online. You may have inspired me! 🙂

@Meowkers: I just watched it online this morning. I really like the comcept of the show but i wish they showed more behind the scenes, coming up with the conceot, designing etc. & I completely agree with you. I loved that convertible skirt but can’t afford it at Saks. I know it would have been under $30 at H&M. Hopefully there will more things available in the upcoming weeks.

@Ms. Damask: I agree. They should spend more time behind the scene showing how the outfits were made. Like project runway.

@Meowkers: I actually watched it. I’m not sure if I liked it enough to continue. I like the idea of being able to buy the clothes the next day, but there isn’t a large enough time or platform to get to know the designers. I like Project Runway better because you get to know the designers and learn what their design aesthetic is like.

@Meowkers: Was it the convertible skirt! I loved it! I actually really liked the show too. I wish they would have shown a little bit more about the concept and making as well, but I know that the show is more about the designs themselves and the marketing aspect. I think I may continue to watch it!
