So dad loves Stevie Ray Vaughn, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy etc.
The only musician we both like is David Wilcox and Bad Apple was actually a song from my childhood that we both used to ‘rock out’ to together… So we’ve toyed with using that song, but I really think I want a slow song.. I only get to have this dance once and I want it to be special and not just some random song with the typical, appropriate lyrics. I’d like a nice bluesy song that is still appropriate – if such a thing exists.

eh whatever… I’ll probably dance to bad apple… it’s a fun song, and we could make it work! Probably more fun for people to watch than an overdone slow song

Here are some ideas…
Look at John Hiatt, he has a lot of great tunes… many of them nice ballads… a cross between Blues & Country (ie Country Blues)
One that springs to mind is … Have a Little Faith in Me, is a song that could work for either a Couple, or a Daughter & Dad
Another great artist is Keb Mo
Life Is Beautiful – I’ll Be Your Water – I See Love (the Theme from Mike & Molly) – I’m On Your Side – She Just Wants To Dance
That should get you started with some different ideas.
Maybe give em a listen, then run them past your Dad
