My fiance and I do not currently attend a church. While looking around at church and chapel venues, we were shocked at how expensive the ceremony costs are. I thought we may spend a couple hundred dollars, but all of the churches Im looking at are $900-$1,800 just to book for an hour ceremony! I thought chapels may be less expensive, but I only found one in the area- Pilgram Chapel and it's too small. Any ideas on an inexpensive ceremony place? I dont want to get married outside.

A lot of churches charge more for you to have your wedding there if neither you or your FI attend there.  If the cost is too expensive, you might consider having your ceremony and reception at the same venue.  You might be able to get a good deal somewhere that's more inclusive.  Good luck!

my FH thought he was a member of redemptorist until we tried to get married there, then he suddenly wasn't on their parishioner list.  So we "shopped" for catholic churches (one of his 4 requests about the wedding day).  I will tell you most churches don't appreciate the "shopping" but I don't know what else we were expected to do.  We are now getting married at Holy Name on SW Blvd.  Beautiful old church and I ended up knowing the priest through school.  I only looked at catholic churches, but then next on our list was in Strawberry Hill in KCK - I can't remember the name but it's in the "Czech" area and the doors face the downtown skyline.

If the religious aspect isn't important (ie having the ceremony in a church), I second having the ceremony at your reception site!!  Cuts down on so many costs!  Decor, flowers, transport, etc.

    Good luck!
