You could include part of the Anchors Aweigh song:
Anchors Aweigh, my boys
Anchors Aweigh
Farewell to college joys
We sail at break of day, day, day, day
Through our last night ashore
Drink to the foamUntil we meet once more
Here's wishing you a happy voyage home!
Maybe just:Anchors Aweigh
Through our last night ashore
Drink to the foam
Until we meet once more
Here's wishing you a happy voyage home!
I don't know, what do you think?
thought this was a romantic poem that has the anchor thing tied in, but you may find it a tad bit heavy... thought i'd share anyway because its pretty :)
@ misscake...thats a really good idea...i actually had to learn that song when i was in the navy and i cant believe i biffed that one! lol!
@bloodqo1 thats a great poem but im not sure a lot of my guests would get it. lol! im from a small town out in the country....they're not used to things like that. :)
1. A faithful companion is a sure anchor.
2. The lass that loves a sailor.
3. The sailor loves the maiden.
4. Twas down in Stockton Church
The happy knot was tied
From land to land
There’s no man can
Match the sailor and his bride.
I have suggestions, and I want to piggyback on your thread - if you don't mind! We are getting married in Newport, so I am having a seashell bar (similarly set up to a candy buffet) and need something cute about shells, the sea, etc.
For your anchors, what about something like:
Sail into the sunset
Love's anchor
Be my anchor and my guide
Happy sails!
Love's great voyage
@guffee
perhaps "my anchor through the storm"?
This isn't helpful, but it also made me think of those cheesy vows in Wedding Crashers where she promises her fiance/"captain" that she will be his "anchor and his sail" :)
@shanbrice I think this is not as light and whimsical as you would like, but it's certainly romantic
"My bounty is as boundless as the sea,
My love as deep;
The more I give to thee
The more I have,
For both are infinite." -Romeo and Juliet
@shanbrice....i dont mind at all if you piggyback off this thread! go for it! :)
@MissScarlet....i really like yours too!!!
you're all awesome!! how am i going to choose?! lol!
For shanbrice:
1. Come walk with me
Along the sea
Where dusk sits on the land
And search with me
For shells are free,
And treasures hide in sand.
2. Three of life’s treasures, seashells, sand and sun
Debra Oakland
3. Today is a smooth white seashell, hold it close and listen to the beauty of the hours.
4. One cannot collect all the beautiful shells on the beach. One can collect only a few and they are more beautiful if they are a few.
Anne Morrow Lindbergh
5. May your joys be as deep as the ocean, your sorrows as light as its foam.
6. You’re not a wave, you’re a part of the ocean.
Mitch Albom
7. Individually we are a drop. Together we are an ocean.
Ryunosuke Satoro
8. May your joys be as deep as the ocean, and your troubles as light as its foam
@shanbrice...i definitly will let you know if i think of anything! i've been trying! i think my brain is fried from all the wedding stuff! lol! i do really like the first poem that julies1949 listed for you! thats what has my vote! :)
@julies1949 - i really like the first one you posted for shanbrice! that one, to me, seems like it goes very well with her theme!
what would we do without the bees on wedding bee? i think we'd all be pulling out our hair! lol!

ok bees i need your help!!! ive finally decided on what i want to do for my favors. since my FI and I met while we were in the navy (he's still in) i bought an anchor cookie cutter and our guests will get cookies in the shape of an anchor. im bagging them all individually in clear bags tied shut with a ribbon. i want to attach a little note with a cute phrase on the ribbon. any suggestions?
