I’m getting married for the second time, on the beach not far from where we live. I would like to have my dress made becuse I don’t want or like the “fancy” dresses in bridal shops.
Can anyone recommend a good dress maker in my area? I’m near Clarwater and Tampa Forida.

I live in the St. Pete/Clearwater area however I am not familiar with any dressmakers here. Maybe lookup seemstresses and alterations places, a lot of tailors can do that type of work, also International Academy of Design and Technology in Tampa has a fashion designer program, maybe you can get in touch with one of their students who wants to make some extra money? There is a bridal store here in St. Pete called CC’s boutique ccsboutique.com and they have hundreds of dresses so you might be able to find something unique there. I know in most of the bridal shops in this area it is slim pickings because most of them only have like 20 dresses in stock. Good luck on the search let us know how it works out.

Hey thanks! I just signed on to ask another question and saw your response. I’m sorry I didn’t see it earlier.
As far as my dress I am going to shop here locally and see if I can find anything off the rack. If I can’t, I will have Jak’s online dressmaker make a dress a size larger than what I need, then have it altered by Custom Couture of Clearwater. I’ve been in touch with the lady who does the alterations.
I am losing weight and I want to make sure that the dress I buy is a little too big in case I’m not as successful as I plan to be.
I’ve settled on the idea of a simple strapless pink dress with an ivory lace “jacket” to go over it. I’m 52 and I don’t want to wear white, or anything too fussy.
We are having a very private tiny wedding on the beach and some months later will have a reception for about 100 people. At the reception I will wear the pink part of the dress with a matching pink jacket over it.
