Lily_of_the_valley:  I’m a cardiac care tech. I like the job because it’s interesting but I’ve also witnessed a lot of deaths so it’s one of those things you need a thick skin for.

I did accounting it was a high stress job.  Didn’t get enough to be constantly yelled at and belittled by patients who don’t know what type of health insurance plan they opted into and was constantly blamed for overcharging.  Most people dont realize physician offices only receive a small percentage of what they are actually billed for the rest just gets written off.  Patients don’t get that, and then your explaining it to them and being blamed for costs they don’t expect.  I always loved dealing with the the patients who signed up for plans never read the details and didn’t know that it was solely a high deductible plan.  The worst.  I happily got out of that and now I manage a medical scrub store!

Lily_of_the_valley:  Are you planning to re-educate yourself? Most healthcare jobs require considerable specialized education.

I am a Registered Nurse and have loved every moment of my career. There are so many areas of nursing and always opportunities to do something different.

I work in the front office of a dental clinic. I went to school for dental assisting, and then made the transition to the front office because my back couldn’t handle all of the bending and twisting involved in working chairside.

Lily_of_the_valley:  I am a the Director over a group of practices… I recruit the providers, jumpstart new practices, build teams around them and help train them until they are ready to fly on their own. I also deal with the day-to-day operations, as well as “putting out fires”. If you are a provider, this sort of job might be a great route for you since you would be familiar with the clinical aspect of it, without having to deal directly with providing pt care.

Hospice Volunteer Manager, for the most part I love it, I find wonderful people and train them how to visit dying people.  My job is in healthcare, but a bit out there compared to most.  I have an community education/volunteer background, but I know others with my job title have a healthcare background.
