It is a husband and wife team. I am not sure how much they would charge to travel to Florida, but I know they DO travel and their starting package is only $999 for unlimited pics from two photographers for five hours, and you get digital copies of everything. I have been super impressed with their professionalism, and their samples pictures look even better in person than they do on the website. It might still be out of your price range, but it is something to think about.
Chech out Mrs. Quiche's blog she used a photgrapher by the name of Ashley (sorry I don't remember her last name) They are a husband and wife team and photojournalistic is their style. Just look at Quiche's photos they were amazing. Her pricing is good too, I think her packages start at like around $2000+ with about six hours or maybe five sorry I don't remember. Anyways she was helpful, answered my emails quickly. They are in the Miami area and she has taken many engagement pictures in Miami so she is obviously familar with the area.
Please check www.goldenmemoriesbyhazel.com to see if you like her style. I've seen her pictures from a wedding I attended and they were awesome! I understand that she is reasonably priced for Miami.

They are traveling about 2 hours away but only charging an extra $100 so not too bad =]

Hi there we are getting married 2/13/10 and are also on a very tight budget. We are using Elegant Ocassions and they have studios in New York, New Jersey, Ft Lauderdale and Miami. They did a WONDERFUL job on our engegement portraits and gave us alot of extras on our package. You could also try J Hunter Photography...www.jhunter.com. John and Hannah are a husband and wife team and offer quite a few different package levels. I've used them as a vendor many times (I am a Dir. of Sales and Catering) and I am also using them for our wedding.
I want to extend a very sincere thank you to everyone for all the suggestions!!!! I'm so sorry that I have been m.i.a. the last couple of weeks. We have been so very busy the wedding planning had to be set to the side for a while.
I will begin making calls and appointments with some of the photographers in this thread....and I'm almost positive we will find someone we are very happy with. I will keep everyone posted on our decision!
Definitely look into Heather Funk in Miami. Her style and photos are stunning.

Help!! Our wedding is less than 3 months away and we still need a photographer!!! This portion of the wedding is hugely important to us and I'm very nervous that we are still searching... I've already had nightmares that our wedding day has arrived and there is not photographer!!
We want a photojournalistic/documentary style. Someone with experience with weddings, must shoot in raw format, be able to provide high digital negatives (we know this is an additional cost) but it's worth it).
We have hit some major obstacles in our wedding planning and have managed to hold it together...but this has left us a little behind in the planning process and has put a dent in our budget which was originally allotted towards having a kick ass photographer.
The average starting package of a solid wedding photographer in miami is around $3,000 which is over our budget.
Does anyone have recommendations/referrals???
