I’m thinking of doing a surprise ice luge for my fiance to go with the martini bar we’re having for our reception. The problem is, I’m not sure what design to go with.
An ice luge is an ice sculpture with tracks carved in them so the bartender can pour the drink down the track and it collects at the bottom into a martini glass, all nicely chilled.
I thought it would be cute to have the ice sculpture in the shape of our dog, with the tracks running down her front shoulders to her paws. But everyone says “that’s pretty weird”. My fiance is very anti-monogram or anything too conventional, so I’m not sure what else to do! Any ideas? [attachment=788442,100295]

I think that the dog is cute but I am not sure but I can see it being a little weird drinking from it.
I know that custom sculptures cost a ton more than stock sculptures with the company I am using. So maybe you need to take that into consideration too.
I am having a fleur de lis sculpture where the liquid will pour out each side!
I would also consult with whoever is doing this on the mechanics of doing the dog sculpture.
I was at a wedding a while back and the groom was a huge sports fan so the sculpture was in the shape of football and one of the cocktail options to have poured thru it was in his teams colors.

Oh man! I am doing an ice luge too! I have to say, I think any animal ice luge is odd. What are his hobbies? Literally ANYTHING! Help us know your groom better–we’ll come up with something for ya!

I like the dog idea! Its not like you’re actually drinking off of a dog. To suggest other ideas we’d have to know some other stuff that he likes. A sport, hobby, location, etc.

Thanks… more about the groom:
-He proposed to me at a lighthouse on Cape Cod, and the wedding will be on the Cape (but not beach-themed at all)… but that could be nice
-He’s from the D.C. area, and has lots of DC pride
-He loves to play basketball
-our wedding theme is “Love Blooms” and a lot of our elements are nature-y and tree-like in some way
-He HATES monograms
Keep the help coming, please! I’d love some input.
