I can probably follow your posting in words, but pictures are always easier (even if the pics aren’t yours, but off the internet to represent the 2 rings)

I have a gap and after a few weeks I noticed marks on my e-ring basket just like you were describing from the exposed stones on my band.

I went on Etsy and got a super, super thin (I think the ad said 16 gauge) sterling silver ring to wear in between.  It cost like $5, you can’t hardly see it on my hand, and it’s prevented the gouging without altering my rings any.  It was the best solution I could find shy of sending in my rings every year to get the platinum in the basket put back into place.

Soldering and silver spacers are the two major options I can think of.

Based on the two choices for WBands that you’ve shown up against that ERing, I’d go with the channel set one (the last one)

The first one with the prong set diamonds, and exposed edges is going to beat the crap out of both the ERing as well as those diamonds in the WBand quite frankly

Depending on high the basket sits on the ERing vs the height of the WBand will also come into play.

In my own case, I have a Semi-Custom made ERing that we got thru a Family Run Jewellery Store.  It is a Cathedral Setting, but the stone sits above the centre of my ERing Band… and the sides of my ring flare out slightly so there is a gap when I add a WBand.  My WBands (I have 2) came from a Chain Jewellery Store… they are Channel Set Diamonds, so the edges are smooth and straight.

“The Gap” between the two rings is there but not very large (on the bottom side, both shanks sit quite nicely side by side and would be an excellent candidate for soldering, altho that is a choice that I CHOOSE not to make, as I like having all my rings seperate, and the choices to wear 1, 2, or 3 at a time, and mix & match them as I please)

Is there wear & tear just the same… yup

I can tell you that the Goldsmith at the Family Run Jewellry Store isn’t thrilled when he sees my ERing semi-annually for cleaning (he’d like to make me a custom WBand… or have to two rings soldered together)… BUT he has told me that because all my diamonds are channel set in both rings, I probably aren’t doing them any harm, just the gold on the sides of my rings… in that they are scrached up and the WGold wears off quicker etc.

Here is a pic of my two rings together…

Hope this helps,

To @MissSparky:  If you haven’t already, you need to look at this recent topic where a Bee tried out a spacer.

It would work in your circumstance, but clearly based on the look / feedback the other Bee got it is not something for everyone.

Hope this helps,
