Has anyone here ever special ordered their ring either from Kay Jewelers or anywhere else?
I’m nervous about ordering something and putting money down (they make you put down 20%) on something I haven’t seen yet. I’m worried particularly about the diamond quality (it says on the website that the minimum clarity is I1-I2) and want to ask if they can up the minimum clarity allowed for my ring.
They are charging me full retail price to special order (full price is $1050… sale price online is $809). Is this normal? Or can I haggle them down any?
I’m going to be getting this ring in yellow gold and a size 4:

I had to special order my ring too (size 4) from Michael Hill. Its a 0.5carat pave ring in white gold, and looks really similar to the ring in the above picture. I wouldn’t wouldn’t worry too much about diamond clarity as pave diamonds are so small, I can’t tell the difference! I ust focus on the sparkle!… Best thing about small fingers though, the diamonds along the band makes a fuller circle to get 0.5carats compared to bigger fingers.

Thanks! Your ring looks lovely. Do you know the clarity rating of your diamonds?
I have a cheap diamond journey pendant necklace that my fiance got me back when we were in college. The diamonds were small and you could tell that some diamonds are cloudier than others. It’s just a necklace so I didn’t care, but for my wedding ring I care a lot more.
I know the tiny micro diamonds in my wedding ring will be harder to see. But I still worry I guess. I tend to notice really small things. I’d feel so much better if I could just see it first. I’m probably thinking too hard about this.
On a side note… Since I’m getting the ring in yellow gold… does anyone think it would look better with slightly yellow tinted diamonds? (K-M color?)
