I’m currently in the process of changing my eating habits and making work outs a daily habit. I’m only using My Fitness Pal at the moment, and so far it’s been working pretty well. It has a large database, and it’s free! I’ve done WW online in the past and had a lot of success when it was the momentum program. I tried the new program about 7 months ago and it didn’t work well for me (I will admit, I don’t think I was ready to make the commitment then!). My question is, for those of you that have used both, do you think joining WW again would be worth it if this time I’m fully committed, or should I just stick with the free option of MFP? I would be doing the online program for WW if that makes a difference. The main reason I’m leaning to joining is because of my past success, and I like the structure of the program. The main drawback for me is the money. Please let me know your opinions!
Also, do any of you WW bees out there have the new active link they offer? What are your thoughts? Is is worth it?

@JerseyGirl85: I actually saw a news article recently that said a lot of people are dumping WW and going to myfitnesspal because its free.
Personally, I think that if you know waht you need to do you will do fine. You are working out and you are eating better. I have found in the past that if I use the app I tend to lose more.
Money is a factor. I have never used WW. So I’m not sure what you get with the program.

@VictorianChick: Thanks! That’s pretty much what I did too, stopped using WW because of the money and switched over to MFP. I think you’re right, as long as I can keep doing what I’m doing now I should be ok. I just need to have discipline which isn’t always easy!

@JerseyGirl85: I have done both, and personally – I like MFP a million times better than WW. That being said, I do think WW has value with those who are brand new to a healthy lifestyle, and who have never even given any thought to losing weight in the past.
My biggest issue with WW is that there is zero focus on macro and micro nutrients. For example, WW doesn’t care if I get 100% of my calories from carbs, and zero from fat and protein. I could eat gummy bears all day, and WW doesn’t care. In fact, there is no way to even look at it through your WW tracker! I also hated not knowing how much sodium I had consumed (I guess I could’ve tracked that separately, but what a pain!).
I also didn’t get anything positive from the meetings. They didn’t hold me any more accountable to myself than I already was. So, the $40+ per month really wasn’t worth it for me. I’m a MFP girl through and through. It has everything you could need, with zero cost.

I am using My Fitnesspal and loving it 🙂 I can’t comment on WW, but I like how I am in control of what I eat and my daily workouts, and the best part, it’s free.

@JerseyGirl85: If you have concerns over money I would definitely say MFP. The price of “free” is just right.
There are a number of bees on MFP too which makes it a great little support group to keep you motivated. Feel free to add me treejewel19.

I’ve used both, but to be honest I feel like I make healthier choices with WW because most fruits and vegetables are 0 points. Thus, I am a lot more likely to eat them. With MFP I am more apt to choose 100 calories worth of cookies as opposed to 100 calories worth of banana.

Need I say it more? I seriously need to get a job for them because I say this all the time. It is virtually the same as WW — tracking your calories without the need to convert it to points (seriously, why that extra step?).
It’s free. You can do it on your phone. We wedding bees are all friends on MFP so we encourage each other and have plenty of support.

I saw more results with Weight Watchers, but just couldn’t justify the price. My Fitness Pal is an awesome free option.
