So a little while ago I read about vow duets, where the bride says one line and the grooms says the next and so on. I thought it was cute, but moved on. Last night I rediscovered it and showed it to FI, I was surprised that he too liked the idea and would like to do it.
The only problem is is that I still want to have our own solo monologues, not necessarily making vows to one another, but a quick blurb on how important this moment in our lives are, etc. I find this is usually done by the bride and groom right before they start there actual vows to one another.
So, I would still really like to incorporate that into the ceremony (which wouldn’t really take us much time seeing as our ceremony is literaly about 15 minutes and we set aside a half hour into the timeline). Any ideas how we could work this in? This is what I was thinking:
Officiant: a little welcome speech to the guests, and then say something like “the bride and groom will now exchange [insert word here] to one another
bride and groom speeches to each other
Officiant: reading number 1, then the bride and groom will now exchange vows
Officiant: reading number 2…and so on
Do you think that is ridiculous, or could it work?
