Hi Bees. I have a request. i’m trying hard to get my etsy store up and running because rent is coming up and I’m afraid if I don’t make any more jobs or paying clients (small design business) this month I wont be able to cover it
I have a strange request. I’m trying to better understanding the etsy selling and right now i’m working on pricing out my services and I’m stuck.
If you had to buy your wedding announcements (save the dates) would you buy off etsy due to quantity or buy just the design it’s self and then have the printing done by some cheap wallgreen printer or something?
I know, strange request, but i have to start making money soon or else i’ll have to move back to the mainland far away from my fiance 🙁 and we did distance for 6 years. I don’t want to go back to that!
Thanks for your help bees. I really whole heartily appreciate it.

I think you could offer both options! If they want pre-printed, they buy the 50 option; if they want to print it themselves they pick the $20 custom option. Is that an option for you? I’ve seen it done both ways.

How would I demonstrate that?

I agree about offering both. To demonstrate it I’d just make two different listings with samples/pictures of your items. Then explain what the listing is for in the description: the design or the design and print outs. I think that people would appreciate the choice and you could in turn get more business.
Hope it works out for you!

I know i can’t self promote, but if anyone would like to view how i have it displayed right now and maybe help with some critiques or ideas on how to better offer my service, i’d really appreciate it.
I can PM you the store url if anyone wants to help.
Thanks <3 bees

Mr. Tattoo just offers the design and the brides find their own printing. I think it’s easier and quicker this way. We don’t have the means or product to print in house and it would take longer for him to make a design, print it from a third party, wait for it to ship to us, and then ship to the client after he makes sure everything is fine.
Offering a flat rate for design services works better for him.

I was going to offer both too 🙂
You could offer them as separate listings, or you could just put a line in the description of the printed product that says, “Electronic design for home printing also available for a reduced fee; send me a message for quote and to set up a private listing.”
