Our ceremony is going to be at the same place as the reception and half indoor, half outdoor. I’m looking for a Catholic priest who would marry us outside the church in Fairfax, CA. Any suggestions welcomed! Thanks in advance!

@rowzbudr: I had a tough time looking into this possibility. I was denied by many churches in our areas because Catholic priest do not marry couples outside the walls of the church. After we booked our wedding ceremony venue, Fiance found some officiants who were former Catholic priests…but I wasn’t too keen on the idea because of the possibility of our marriage would not be recognized in the catholic faith.

I posted in your other duplicate thread, but I’ll post it here as well;
Please realize that even if you find some Catholic priest to do this, the marriage won’t be recognized in the Catholic church without the proper requests/paperwork filed afterward (and even then, it’s not really the acceptable route towards having a Catholic marriage).
I know I’m just handing my opinion out and you haven’t asked for it, but please think about whether a Catholic marriage is what you actually want. If you’re doing it because you’re Catholic, you know it needs to be in a church. If you’re doing it to appease Grandma, this still isn’t the way to do it.

i was just going to say the same thing as some of the other posters. But a priest wont marry you outside the church walls and if they do it wont be seen as a catholic wedding if you do it outside. Some of them might be willing to do another ceremony outside if you have a formal catholic ceremony in the church before hand. Sorry

The only times where I have heard of a valid Cathoolic marriage outside of a church is in rare and extreme cases under the authorization of the bishop (one of the bride or groom near death in a hospital room, for example). There really is no “outdoor Catholic wedding”. Get married in a church and then have a garden reception!
