I’m looking for some advice. I just got engaged and am planning for Boston. We want to get married and have a Catholic ceremony in Chicago.
Unfortonately most churches in Chicago want you to be an active parishioner or pay around $2000+!!
Does anyone know of Catholic Churches not super expensive in the city??

Nope- that is about what it costs in the Chicago area regardless of denomination. I’m Presbyterian, but not an active member of any church in the Chicago area anymore, and it would have been about 2,000 anywhere. Sometimes if you talk to the pastor they would be willing to give you a break if you can’t afford it. Look into the more famous ones. Sometimes they offer you to use the space without their people for a cheaper rate, but I’m sure dates go like crazy.

How big is your group? You might want to inquire with some of the bigger churches if you can use their chapel. It’s smaller but way cheaper.

Why do you want a Catholic service in Chicago? Do you have family there? If so, maybe someone has a special connection to a church they can let you use?
I haven’t lived in Chicago in YEARS but my family is still there. My parents are parishoners at one particular church, but because they are friends with a priest at another church, they agreed to perfom the mass over there.
Wherever you go, you’re probably going to have to give a donation. That’s what will swing them to perform your marriage.
