Our DJ is the only vendor that I go out of the way to recommend. They WERE the best and they made the party! (Husband & wife team) Although I had a DOC, they made sure the reception ran smoothly (timeline). They were great MCs too. They motivated an incredible amount of guests on the dance floor - including people who I'd NEVER thought they'd dance in public! They also taught guests dance moves, etc!
I've heard of many people doing using iPods for receptions. Maybe do some research.
