So we are planning on do a big castle ceremony for the family late next year or beginning of following, however with military we are having a very small intimate ceremony later this year now. I love this ballgown for the castle but I think it is too much for both ceremonies. I don’t know if I should buy two different dresses; I found a perfect dress for the small ceremony too. I just don’t think it is Castle Wedding appropriate. Please give me your thoughts.

You could wear the first dress without the underskirt for the 1st ceremony and the train folded up. Then add the puffy skirt for the Castle and let the train out 🙂

those are beautiful dresses!

The JA gown is one of my favorites. So beautiful!
I’d buy and wear the different gowns if I could.

I LOVE the Justin Alexander. It’s my dress! (Which you might know, because I post it way more than I should.)
I agree that the slimmer-fit dress isn’t really castle appropriate. What if you got the JA, and then got a replica for the smaller ceremony?

I love the first one soooo much! Just get that one and rock it for both! Have it bustled and with a smaller petticoat. 🙂

The JA is lovely. The idea of smaller petticoat and bustle is also doable. Don’t short yourself just because the ceremony is “small and simple.”
A few things to keep in mind if you go with the smaller petticoat idea. smaller petticoat will mean the dress will hang down further. with the lace overlay on the first dress, you might face some unusual things with alterations. Most wedding dresses default to a length that suits someone who’s 5’9″ in heels. if that doesn’t work, you’ll need to tell the bridal salon up front. (any shop worth it’s salt will mention this to you). If you want to do the bigger / smaller petticoat, you’ll need to pick your shoes accordingly – higher heels with the smaller petticoat. If there’s a salon you’re working with that has the dress – they should have petticoats with different fullnesses. Try them. See what it’s going to look like.
(I used to work at a bridal salon several years ago… in case you’re wondering)
Hope that helps with the decision process!

@EffieTrinket: Yes I know it is yours. I fell in love with this dress after you posted it on another post , so thank you. I think I need to go make a road trip to try it on. If it fits how I hope I think I will use it for both and just adjust the poof and train accordingly.

Thank you everyone. I think I need to go make a road trip to try it on. If it fits how I hope I think I will use it for both and just adjust the poof and train accordingly. I dont want to spend the extra money when I love the JA dress so much.
