Weddingbee boards

Ok all you fashion savvy ladies!  I need a dress for my brother's wedding.  So essentially by August 7th, as that's when I'm flying home to Toronto.  Unfortunately, that rules out dresses that need to be ordered in, and having one custom made.

I have searched HIGH and LOW and haven't found anything that will work.  Everything is either too short (fat knees are bad m'kay), too clingy (I'm working on the 'ol pot belly, but it's not quite there yet), or too casual (everything is jersey jersey jersey).   So what's a girl to do?

I want a fairly simple tea length dress (no big loud patterns as I'll be in pictures and such).  I actually found "the one" at frocks - but they didn't have my size in store, and may not be able to get it in time from the warehouse IF they have it at the warehouse at all.

I've tried:  RW & Co, Narssist, Barefoot Contessa, Spank, Frocks, Tenth and Proper, Plenty, Le Chateau, Winners, Sears, the Bay, Bedo, H&M, and a few other random stores on Granville and 4th. 

Help me...please!!

Try Nordstrom.com!!  They have a great selection and you can narrow your search by style, color, etc.  The return policy is fantastic so order a few online and know that you'll only have to choose one!

I hear you on the big loud patterns!  I was married 3 weeks ago... A LOT of my guests wore bold patterns.  I kind of wish I would have lined up all these fashionable gals for one horrendous photo.  I like the look in person, but the photos... oh, the photos!!  I vowed never to wear a loud pattern to a wedding -- it's just mean.

Echo - have you tried Plum? There were some cute dresses at the one on 4th a few weeks ago. There's a new store on Commercial Drive at Napier St near Tony's Deli that has cute dresses in the window. Hmm.. what about Jacob or Reitman's?

Mrs Pom:  I only *wish* Nordstrom's shipped to Canada!!  So many great dresses on their website.  If i don't find anything up here, then a trip to seattle might be in store! 

marianneinvan: I did check out Plum on granville I believe?  And I made the rounds at lougheed town centre a couple weeks back (which includes Reitmans).  I haven't checked Jacob recently, but their stuff never fits me properly.  I always seem to be between sizes there, but it's worth a try.  I haven't actually checked out BCBG yet - not sure if they have any tea length dresses though?

So Echo, any luck?

BCBG's website has some cute dresses, but they're mostly floor-length or knee-length.

I found a dress at frocks (Meg by Lynn Lugo) but they don't have it in my size in store.  Fortunately they did have one in the Lynn Lugo warehouse and are bringing it up for me.

PS. Thanks for the tip on Alderwood Mall in Seattle NSTAR.  If the dress from frocks doesn't fit, it looks like I'll be making a quick (heh) trip across the border!
