- Wedding: December 1969
This is my first time posting, but I find helpful advice here all the time and now I have a unique situation of my own. My wedding is booked for July 21st which is only 5 weeks away. The reception venue has been difficult to deal with and not ideal for the cocktail reception we are having. However when my fiancé and I visited the town this weekend we came across the absolute perfect venue for our reception, a small art gallery nearby. Unfortunately they already have our date booked and can’t yet guarantee that they can also host our reception on the following day (since I would be more than willing to postpone a single day!) however, I have contacted all my vendors and they are all available the following Friday, July 27th. Time is ticking and I would need to let out of town guests know ASAP. Is it horrible etiquette, since invitations have already been sent and RSVP’s have begun to come in, for us to postpone just a week in order to have the reception of our dreams? We will of course send a notice card and call all the guests as soon as the decision is made. Or should we just go along with our not-so-perfect reception?
