Laurenplusalex:  If she lives in a climate where winter coats or jackets are required, that would be a wonderful gift. If you are not able to be sure about their sizes, just be sure to buy them at a national chain so she can easily exchange.

I like giving books to children to encourage a love of reading at a young age. They get so many toys from others anyhow.

I agree that sizing might be difficult.  I really like the book option as well.  It is something that mom probably doesn’t have the opportunity to buy for her girls.  Another idea would be to put together a basket of must-need items for her kiddos.  Stuff like lotions, some bath items.  This might help mom free up some cash to spend seasonal and other more tricky items that the girls need.

Coats are a good idea. Or basics like socks and onesies are always useful (my daughter is 15 months and still wears plain onesies to bed and around the house). The book suggestion is also great.

are they still in diapers? my aunt always loved having people give her diapers for her twins.

Coats are a good idea but I would check with her for sizing.  My daughter is only 6 months old and is in 12-18 month clothes already.  Or maybe little boots for them or books.

for 1 year olds I always send books and bath toys. Crayola makes colored “finger paint” soap so i usually get a few of those and some tub toys.
