I mean, pawn shops in general aren’t exactly trustworthy. I would go to an reputable jeweler and have an appraisal done. They’re not terribly expensive, and it will be worth it to know for sure. If your parents have any of the documentation from when the ring was originally purchased [GIA certification, etc], you could take both of those back to the pawn shop you suspect of having swapped stones and threaten them with a lawsuit.

I could be wrong but I don’t think they made moissanites very long ago? Find out what year he bought it for her and google when they started selling moissanites! Hope that helps!
