What kind of feel are you going with for your wedding?
Also, they should be able to talk to you and give you different ideas that they've seen. I had two cake consultations (well three with a groom's cake) and every time they wanted a basic idea and a few pictures and then made suggestions on things they'd seen be beautiful in the past.
I def want 3 tiers and square... idk what kind of design. Im open to anything. Oh ok so they will show pictures etc of past cakes and help you out? I still want to bring a couple pics for them to see what kind of stuff I like and then go from there or something.
They would show us pictures and just make general suggestions that they thought would enhance the cake.

Im not too sure if I want black on the cake though lol! I found these but idk if its exactly what I want, I dont know what I want lol. 
I dont know though... I need more help lol!!

I still dont have a design for the cake together. Our colors are red, black, and white. Can you post different pics of cakes for me, maybe we can hurry and come up with something lol. Thanks ladies
