I've seen plenty of people wear them before with a variety of other shoes. Flats, flip flops, and sneakers. I would personally think sneakers are your best bet b/c they normally have a little more cushion and add some height, much like the boot does, so you are standing on more equal ground than if you were wearing flats. Also, wide leg jeans or shorts/skirt is totally fine. If you can, do skinny jeans and wear them under, like you would a regular boot. Just be comfortable!
My sister had to wear one last year - she just wore a sneaker on the other foot and trackpants (think you call them sweat pants?) which came down over the top of the boot.
Unfortunately no matter what she wore, she ended up walking a bit differently and had to use crutches at first so everyone noticed straight away, but everyone was very nice to her :)
Don't worry about what people think. Make up some exciting story about fracturing your foot running an ultra marathon across the Mojave desert, being chased by a nomadic tribe who wanted to marry you off to the son of their leader.
The boot does elevate that foot a couple of inches so wear your athletic shoes . You will quickly find out what works for you.
I'm getting it on my way to work and since I am a teacher I am required to do business casual, so slacks, etc. I'm guessing that I will talk a pair of loose cargo parts and a skirt to the dr office. If my pants don't work I will change. This should add some interest to my classes for the next few days :)
Thanks bees. Any other advice or comments are totally appreciated!
You'll be fine. Any pants that fit over or under the boot, or any skirt will do.
You're having to wear a boot. People will understand the lack of fashion cohesion--I promise! :)

Okay Bees, here's my situation. Apparently I have a stress fracture on the right foot that the doctor is hoping a CAM boot (big black ugly boot with velcro) with heal. She wants me to wear it for 2 weeks and see if the pain goes away. If it does, we are done. If it doesn't, more imaging, possible hard cast.
So here's the problem: what do I wear tomorrow? I don't want to wear something that won't fit over it, but I feel like if I wear a skirt I will just draw extra attention to it. And what do I wear on my other foot? Will my sneakers be fine? UGH!!!
Bees, tell me you have been here or know somebody who has. What did they wear while they had their boot on?
Disclaimer: yeah, I know it's silly to stress over clothes and all, but did you see how big and ugly this thing is? Image from google.
