I just got engaged 2 weeks ago but I’m so eager to start planning so I can start saving and start paying!!! I know this may sound ridiculously low, but our wedding budget is only $5000, not including my dress. My grandmother has offered to pay for catering. Our plan was to get a beach permit and insurance for Long Branch beach, which would run uabout $250 and have a simple ceremony. Our close friend has a license to marry folks, and he volunteered to do our ceremony for free.
NOW, we initially planned to do a backyard reception at my grandmothers house. We were going to rent chairs, tables, tent, dance floor, linens, and lights which the cheapest quote I found was $2860; including the tax. I wanted to look into just renting a hall who already has chairs and tables, but I’m having a hard time finding any hall rentals in the area!!!
My guest list is estimated at 200 people right now!!
Can anyone help me find a hall rental to accommodate this many people but still be in my budget!!

First of all, congratulations on your engagement!! I’ve been engaged now for almost 2 months and it has been a whirlwind, so good luck and have fun!
I assume that I read your message right in that your grandmother is paying for the catering and it’s a separate cost on top of the $5,000 budget. Otherwise it will be very difficult…near impossible…to find decent catering for 200 people for less than $5k.
But otherwise, you can definitely find a good venue for that cost…how much are you willing to spend on a facility fee? Are you looking to have your own caterer brought in somewhere? or are you interested in a venue that does it’s own caterign in-house? How much is your grandmother willing to spend on catering? These are all questions that need answering before us bees can give accurate suggestions.
But without knowing anything, have you looked at Ocean Place Resort & Spa? or Branches Catering? Channel Club Caterers?
or if you are looking for something more basic, perhaps look at the West Long Branch Community Center or the Patten Point Yacht Club maybe?
Hopefully this helps.
